I doubt he'd have the pure skill though.</div> back then nfl contracts were given out to ppl like candy, winfield got drafted by 3 teams and that was more recent than wilt. i don't mean to hate, cause the idea is amusing, but c'mon if u really think wilt had a chance you don't respect or don't appreciate boxing. We're talkin about the best ever vs a guy who has never boxed.
Has anyone seen Wilt fight in a boxing match or in any fight? No? Then don't count him out. I respect boxing and Ali but look at George Foreman when he came back at 40 something. He won the world championship. No one said George could do it. Never count out the underdog.

George was a boxer and came back to boxing. And like you said at 40, he won the championship. At 40 he could have whooped Wilt's ass. He is a trained boxer, it's not like he was from another sport and won. That's what he does, boxing. Wilt is ball player. He will put up a fight but in the end he's gonna get knocked down.
Ali is just standing 6'6" compared to Chamberlain's 7'1". I mean cmon, there's no way Ali can hit Chamberlain if Wilt stretches his arm straight to Ali's face
I read about that. I'd put my money on Ali. But Wilt could probably give Ali some problems with his freakish height and strength.

first off, this is true, it is a well known story. second, 'buffness' doesn't account for taking a punch. You cant get your chin 'buff'. Lennox LEwis would put Shaq to sleep if he hit him, no matter how 'buff' Shaq is. Third, Ali would stop Wilt with a body shot in round 1. Wilt was an athletic freak, but he was no fighter, let alone compete against one of the greatest heavyweights in history. That's like suggesting Lennox Lewis could beat Allen Iverson in basketball because he's much bigger than AI
