Webb is scheduled to pitch right before the all star break so even if he made the roster he would be one of those players who would be replaced. This has to be why he was left off because there is no reason why he gets passed over for a Cole Hamels, Billy Wagner or Brian Fuentes. Interestingly enough Webb is pitching tomorrow against the Cardinals and Tony LaRussa is the guy who picked out the rosters. :shifty2:
But when he retires it'll still add to his accomplishments right? It just would be a nice change to have 3 guys picked for the all-star game. LaRussa being the Cardinals manager is another reason why I'm confident about the serious. Should be some good motivation for Webb and Byrnes to kick ass and get the team winning again. Lyon and Pena too, shut 'em out! :happy0144:Edit: Well Webb would be on his 4th day of rest during the break. They could throw him out there for 1/3 of an inning so he should show up.

Wow how dumb is this, Bonds and Beltran get the start over Matt Holliday? I think he is the best outfielder in the NL and they put Bonds who should have either been the last person added or not in the ASG at all and Beltran starting? Jeez, just shows how this is a popularity contest.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (SBoyd415 @ Jul 2 2007, 01:02 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Although I agree that Beltran shouldn't be in it, I don't agree that Bonds shouldn't (big surprise) because he's still the most feared and respected hitter and the ASG is in San Francisco (as a rule, the city hosting has to have at least one all star) The representative of San Francisco was basically going to come down to Molina, Morris, and Bonds, and Bonds got it because of the large voter turnout. As for Holliday, he's a great hitter (I have him on my fantasy team) but I think his stats are a bit inflated because of Coors Field. Either way, he's more deserving than Beltran...</div>Coors field sh*t is so exaggerated. It barely even makes a difference. It is obvious that Bonds was going to make the game, I just don't think he deserved to start.
JJ Hardy over Edgar Renteria is just ridiculous.. and I still don't like the fact that Bonds is starting - Holliday deserves it much more than Bonds.

I was going to argue with you but then I saw the split stats. Holliday is batting .404 in Coors and .301 on the road, he has hit 3 more home runs in 20 less at bats, he also has 3 more doubles and 2 more triples in less at bats at Coors which also means his SLG and OPS are also much, much higher. He gets less walks at Coors, but his OBP is also about .09 points higher. It's like 2 different people. Bonds has had a hell of a season so yes he deserves it. So many people used steroids that I just don't care anymore.

When does the final vote end? Bonderman better get that last spot. As for the teams so far, I don't think that Pudge deserved a starting spot, Martinez should have gotten it. And I think Guillen deserves to start over Jeter. Also, Jimmy Rollins was a pretty big snub, you could even make a case for him over Reyes, even though I have no problem with him starting.
