<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Moo2K4:</div><div class="quote_post">I'm not putting words in your mouth. You essentially said it yourself right there. You pretty much said that Amare needs his teammates to be successful.

Beyond that, I don't ever recall that Amare has more potential. And here's a thought for ya. At this point in his career, Amare is averaging more points, more blocks, more boards, and beyond that, has played more games. He's stayed healthy. That's one knock on CWebb right there. Beyond that, his team is better without him. Went what, 13-10 WITH him last year? I guarantee if you take Amare from the Suns, they won't be worth a damn. They'll lose their ONLY inside prescence they have. On the other hand, the Kings last year were BETTER without CWebb. Amare not only has the stats to be an All Star, he's on a good team this year. I don't understand what you have against Amare. His team is winning, he's playing great. Why shouldn't he be in there? He's doing everything a big guy should do. He's getting blocks, a decent amount of rebounds, and he's scoring. CWebb, the only thing he's doing better is shooting free throws and stealing the ball. His FG% is lower, his efficiency rating is lower, less points, less blocks, barely more steals, barely more boards, the only thing he really has on him is assists. And quite frankly, assists don't matter as a big guy.</div>

Stoudemire needs Nash to score points, yes, which shows his lack of ability. We are not comparing Webber of yesteryear to Stoudemire now. We are comparing the two players currently. No matter how you spin it, the fact of the matter is you have no way to refute that Webber has better stats than Stoudemire, so right now Webber is a better polished, better all around player than Stoudemire.

Who cares if Webber is polished? Amare is still better. I've given all the info you need for this to be proven. MUCH higher FG%, more points, more blocks, barely less rebounds and steals. What more do you need me to show you? And quite frankly, you've shown no real reason as to why CWebb is better. Who cares if he's more polished. Vlade is more polished than Yao, does that make him better? God no. Being polished does not make you the better player, it just means you have more tricks in your sleeve essentially.

Since obviously that your opinion, so be it. I can tell you that my opinion differs, I don't think Stoudemire is an all star , and certainly he is not better than Webber when stats are concerned. We will just have to agree to disagree then. As you have said Webber has more tricks in his sleeve. Having more tricks means that person is more dynamic. The key to being a successful NBA player is not being a one trick pony. IMO Stoudemire still has a lot of learning to do.

Just because your skills are more polished doesn't mean that you are a better player...like Moo2k5 said, Vlade is way more polished than Yao Ming, but last time I checked..Vlade was no where near Yao's skill level.

    Chris Webber's 2004-2004 Stats
    21.6 ppg, 9.5 boads, 5 dimes, 1.5 steals, .74 blocks, .45 FG%, .801 FT%, in 35.9 MPG

    Amare Stoudemire's 2004-2005 Stats
    25.9 ppg, 8.5 boards, 1.6 dimes, 1.10 steals, 1.6 blocks, .576 FG%, .709 FT%, in 36.4 mpg.

Webber has the advantage in Boards, Dimes, steals, and FT%.

Amare doesn't need to grab more than 8 boards a game with Quentin Richardson, one of the best rebounding guards in the league, and Shawn Marion out there grabbing boards left and right. He also doesn't need to dish the ball off, he has Steve Nash, the best pg in the league. He dominates the block categroy with almost 1 more block a game, dominates in points, etc...

Amare also has the better efficiency rating of +26.46 compared to Webber's +23.89.

Not to mention Webber's horrible FG% for a big, less than 47% isn't good...at all.

There is no question here, Amare deserves an all star nod over Chris Webber, he is simply playing better ball, his team is doing better, sure they have Steve Nash but Amare has been a big factor in the Suns turnaround this year also.

I agree here, Amare has a lot of learning to do. But it is amazing, he barely understands the game and he is a top 7 or 8 MVP candidate...that is freakishly scary. Wait until he learns the game...that will be even scarier...

Haha lol @ Amare needing Nash to score points, did WCBallerz start watching basketball this season?

He's some numbers for you: Amare's scoring numbers last season: 20.6 points, with Marbury he was averaging 15.0 points, after Marbury left, without even having a PG [Barbosa is a SG that can dribble], he averaged 23.7 points on 48% shooting, I guess Nash was passing him the ball from Dallas [IMG]

Chris Webber is obviously a more polished player, how long has he been in the league for, 10 years or so now? Amare right now is arguably the better player though, he's much more efficient offensively, and anyone that says all he does is dunk is a fool. Last season, he was developing his jumpshot, it was inconsistent, but this season, he can hit it like nothing from 15-20 feet. He's a little tid bit, the Suns are working on him being able to knock down three pointers, that's how far his shooting as progressed.

Amare also get's to the line 9-10 times a game, which puts the other team in foul trouble, and further increases his scoring efficiency, he is the most efficient scorer in the league, even more than Shaq since he can hit free throws.

Let's compare their numbers per 40 minutes:

    Amare: 28.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.21 steals, 1.76 blocks, 0.68 assists to turnover, 3.63 fouls, 9.7 FT's, 60.6% TS

    Webber: 24.1 points, 10.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.67 steals, 0.82 blocks, 1.72 assists to turnover, 3.34 fouls, 4.0 FT's, 49.4% TS

The numbers definately show that Webber is a better all-round player, the assists per game, and assists to turnover ratio are very telling in that area. Scoring wise, Amare is the better player, he's 11.2% more efficient, scores 4.4 more points, and goes to the line a huge 5.7 more times a game. Webber is under the league average in scoring efficiency, and a 49.4% efficiency is only decent for guards. He shoot's 80% from the line, but doesn't go to the line well, and his FG% is decent.

Webber is also the better rebounder, Amare is only an okay defensive rebounder for a player of his athleticism, though he has some window cleaners on his team, he should be better. On the offensive glass though, Amare is better than Webber.

Amare also get's the edge defensively, Webber has the edge in steals, but isn't even breaking one block a game. Also with him basically on one leg, his man to man defense is very weak, and he's been a liability defensively at times this season because he just doesn't have the ability anymore, even though he was never a really very good defender.

While Webber is a better all-round player and passer, Amare is the better scorer, and defender which is the big one, so all in all, I'd take Amare, but it's close.

I suppose it's not worth pointing out that the Kings play better basketball without Chris Webber in the line-up, is it?

Not worth pointing out that it's easier to get such good all round stats when the ball is in your possession so often?

Not worth pointing out that the Kings' offense functions much smoother when it runs through Brad Miller and Mike Bibby?

    Nah, of course not.

Why the hell would you put O'Neal in there? He was suspended for half the year, plus his numbers aren't that great.

why has nobody mentioned jason richardson??? 22.6 ppg, 6.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.4 steals, and he has just played AWESOME this year. he has better numbers than rashard lewis or many of the other reserves you have picked, and his FG% is 44.8, damn good for a SG, as a matter of fact, he has the highest FG% of all of the shooting guards averaging over 19 points a game

I have before, but the Warroirs are losing so much, and their's too many good PF's in the West that J-Rich just isn't going to get it. It's like when Jalen Rose and Ricky Davis put up 20-5-5, though the Warriors also went 0-8 without him, he's just no that likely to get it.

People that will get it over him with the last 2 spots: Brad Miller, Chris Webber, Elton Brand, Manu Ginobili, Mike Bibby.

This is disgusting, last year I was tellin everyone that KG shouldn't win and that JO should. Last year was "ride KG's jock" year, now people flop. JO dosen't deserve it cause he hasen't played enought games. Shut up and get off his jock.

b.t.w They better put Gilbert Arenas on the team</div>
    Two guards that are better:

Jason Kidd: Makes the game waaaaaaaaay easier for whatever team he's on. There's other guards getting a lot of shine this season cuz Kidd was out for a while but the guy is still the best passer in the league and him and Nash are still the best PGs. I'm confident that the East coaches will make the right decision because Kidd is still da sh*t.

Dwyane Wade: Having a phenomenal season and every coach in the league would love to have him on their team. He came close to being voted in by the fans but almost every one agrees that he's a lock for the reserve spot.

What are you talking about? He missed...15 games? for his suspension. He is putting up phenominal numbers, that suspension doesn't deserve to hurt him at all. He has earned his way to the allstar game, now give him his props and respect and let him go.

How am I on his jock? I am making an arguement for him, you have nothing valid to state back with your arguement?

I know me and you do not see eye to eye on anything, but Gilbert really deserves that spot much more than Kidd. Gilbert is argueably the most clutch player in the league this year, and is unstoppable on offense. Since Hughes has gone down, Gilbert has been playing like a pg too. His court vision is amazing, his shooting is amazing, something that Kidd doesn't have. If Gilbert doesn't make it over Kidd, then the NBA coaches really will snub the more deserving player.
