Thompson Twins comparison Hoops Hierarchy actually rate Ausar a bit higher even though Amen may have the higher ceiling. That is due to Ausar being not quite as good of a passer, but a better shooter and a better defender.
Trade Dame to Orlando for a haul including the 6 pick and get both of them. Ant, Sharpe and the Thompsons. LFG.
Ausar measures out almost the exact same as Amen physically but has bigger hands and a half inch higher standing reach. Ausar is probably the better fit if we are talking about drafting someone and keeping Dame. Plays SG/SF and is the better shooter. He's not going to need the ball to be successful. Amen definitely has a higher ceiling but it would be harder for him to grow as a playmaker here. I would take Amen if Dame was shipped off though. I like trading down with the Magic to take Ausar if Wagner/#6/#11 was available.
If we are trading Dame to the Magic, I definitely would want Wagner. Not including Wagner would be a non-starter in a trade package from them, to me.
The #6 and #11 are attractive as they are Lottery picks NOW versus having to wait till the future for an undetermined 1st round position. I'd want Hendricks at #6 if he was there and would want Wagner included. At #11, I'd trust Schmitz if he wanted Leonard Miller.....more length and size. IF....we are going to trade Dame, that is the type of return I want. Plus, he would get to play with WCJ and Paolo which would be more big talent than he has had in a long time.

I think that awful trade scenario is why. Fultz is a nice player, not great. Sir Isaac Newton has as good a chance to play games in the NBA as the oft injured Jonathon Isaac does. He been more injured than Oden. Plus with Dame, those picks would most likely end up being middle of the road at best. Dame added to Banchero, Wagner, and Carter Jr. is pretty awesome.
Nothing. I just assumed people understand that Orlando is not in a win-now position, and that them trading for Dame would be silly, thus making a trade prop like that an obvious farce.
It makes as much sense to me as trade proposals that we should trade away Dame but then acquire veteran win now players. So yeah I just assume the posters think all of these are legit ideas because there are so many ridiculous ones.
The more I watch Amen, the more I have him as my favorite for us to draft. I don’t see the star potential in Miller. He could make the ASG a couple of times like Ingram, but I don’t see a 6-10x AS in him. Scoot’s athleticism and mid range game reminds me of DRose with Edwards’ demeanor, but he’s 6’2. Amen is 6’7 in shoes and can be a legit PG in the future. But he’s also the size where he could also be your SF of the future. He’s going to make mistakes like all rookies do, but he WILL make an impact on this team almost immediately as a defender and cutter. I think you start Dame and Ant, sub in Sharpe early at SG, then sub in Amen at SF and Ant in for Dame. With Dame, give him defenders and a PnR partner: Dame/Sharpe/____/Grant/Nurk With Simons, give him defenders and let them play more freely: Ant/Sharpe/Amen/Watford/____ With Mays, you’ll be putting him in the position he’s meant to play, third string PG rather than a backup PG.
There’s just no way we draft this dude and keep Dame. He isn’t going to be happy with another young project. If Amen is the guy, so be it, but he’s not going to be a player that keeps Dame excited.
Very possible your right. But maybe not. Dame seems to talk himself into overrating his friends, teammates, people that he has history with, and an underdog role. Also, Amen is older than Sharpe and isn't like Scoot where he plays Dames position. I wouldn't be shocked if Dame decides to give it another year even if the team didn't get him the veteran help he ideally wanted. Especially if they get an MLE signing Dame likes. And especially if he feels Cronin made every effort to get him what he wanted. Regardless, even if Dame decides to leave, I think the Blazers need to draft BPA and just deal with Dame wanting out or staying once that's decided.
Love seeing this. The more the merrier. It increases the value of the pick as different teams will fall in love with different players. Forget the level of talent they played against this year and evaluate them the same way they did with Shaeden Sharpe.
