I could see this trade. Take Ausar at 6. But this would be a total rebuild move.

I could see sending those assets to another team for a ready now player.

If you’re gonna use amen’s competition as one of the reasons to not draft him, you should know better than that. Dame played at Weber state. Simons played at IMG. Sharpe basically came straight out of high school. They all turned out pretty dang good. Also if you’re still concern about the competition, amen played against pros in Europe and New Zealand I believe. He can look it up on YouTube. He did very well against them

I'll take this as a yes....

I'd personally be surprised that Orlando would even give up #6 for Ant.
I believe Magic have enough cap space that they can just absorb him without any outgoing salary. However, that also opens the door for Portland to take on salary from a tax-strapped team.

My first call would be to Atlanta for John Collins. Maybe something like this:

    Orlando:
    Pick + Okeke -> Simons

    Atlanta:
Collins -> Okeke + Space under Tax Line

    Portland:
    Simons -> Pick + Collins

Dame was 22 years old when we drafted him and he played against D1 talent.

Simons took YEARS to develop. YEARS. He didn't really start to show an ability to have regular minutes until year 3. That's exactly what Dame does. not. want.

And almost every single analyst says the Amen has a higher ceiling than Scoot (also much more likely to bust).

Yes, Scoot is more ready to play *right* now.

But Amen certainly has skills that translate right now, even if his shot is completely fucked.

Starting with defense, BBIQ and playmaking.

And, I’m sure you know this, but if we keep this draft pick… we aren’t contending for anything next year.

So if we tough it out for a year and he starts to come on like Sharpe did that puts us in a *decent* position in the following season.

Not to mention we could trade Simons for any number of upgrades because Amen can be backup PG and SF, whereas Scoot only fills one role.

And if Aminu had the athletic profile, dribbling, BBIQ and playmaking ability of Amen, he’d still be here.

And I don’t want Scoot playing next to Dame *at all* (nor Simons).

They have to match salary. WCJ isn't enough value for Simons.

    I actually really like Scoot.

Just not with Dame or Simons.

And he’s in the same tier as taller players for me, so he is by default the bottom of that tier for me.

And you know what I’m saying is true. Amen is widely accepted to have the highest ceiling outside of Wemby because of his athletic profile. You act like I’m pulling that out of thin air.

I want Simons gone and if we draft Scoot, I think Simons is gone anyway.

I don't think Dame and Scoot would spend much time together, but they could for short bursts play together. But I have heard multiple analysts say that Scoot would be the #1 pick in past drafts. They said that Scoot would have gone #1 over Banchero last year. Most people have Amen at #3 at most.

I really think he’s a legitimate darkhorse with our pick.

His ceiling really is Scottie Pippen

I think any Simons trade for Orlando centers around #11 and/or WCJ (there would , of course, be other assets involved)... I just don't see a Simons swap with Orlando that involves #6 unless we are including #3 or future compensation.

Of course, if you were able to finagle #6 without using #3 you could actually draft both Thompson twins... Ha!

I call BS on people saying he'd go over Banchero last year. He wouldn't even go ahead of Chet.

Here's an article that refers to what I'm talking about.

"Amen Thompson has a higher ceiling than any prospect in this class not named Wembanyama."

That's fine. I think 11 could still get us Siakam if we added all the filler.

A lot of the 'talking heads' have Scoot as better than Amen.
The guys who really get deep into the draft have it more even talent.

That's more along the lines of reality IMO.

Maybe we can pull a fast one on the Magic GM though, because that would be a homerun deal WCJ + 6

I can't help but wonder if maybe the talking heads are going off the eyeball test and the others are basing it on analytics.
