He reminds me of a slightly taller Dort while weighing in at 235. I think he has the skills and size to be an excellent SF. He would fit better next to Grant than say, Miller. I think his vertical makes up for his average wing span.

where are you finding Scoot's wingspan measurements?

Is there a universe where we can simply take Miller at 3, find a trade for another wing/big with Ant + 23, and call it a day?

Let's say someone like KAT is available for Ant/Nurk/23.

Can we feasibly run a lineup of...

    Dame
    Sharpe
    Miller
    Grant
    KAT

I think Miller is fine. I see him being on first team all rookie and averaging 15+ ppg if given enough shots kinda like Keegan Murray was last year. Not sure of his ceiling, but he would help space the floor and be another scoring threat.

Would that team win enough to:
    1. Keep Dame quiet for a few yrs.
    2. Have some semblance of a contending team for the future.

Everywhere but the one source that is completely trustworthy. But apparently he was not measured at the combine

I think that team would probably have to score about 130+ to win most nights.

Ok. How about just Ant + 23 for OG and run either Miller or Sharpe off the bench?

My point is... Can we just take Miller, make some ancillary moves, and call it good?

I have no problem with that, personally (though as I've mentioned before, I have serious doubts about Miller's ceiling). I think the impatience by Dame and his supporters to form a contender ASAP is going to lead to a bad move or two, but the slow and steady build is probably the right way to go. If it ends up that we can't reach contender status before Dame drops off, then so be it, but I think we'll regret going for the quick fix.

...could definitely make sense for Chicago if they offload Lavine elsewhere. Would love to get Caruso too, but I know that's unreasonable.

I think if we are sold on Miller, I would do that.

Then expect Sharpe/Miller to take the reins in 24 when DeRozan's contract expires. We might only win 42 games and make the play-in but I'm generally OK with the strategy. Key here is if Miller is truly our guy. I have reservations but would trust Schmitz.

The Blazers have drafted youngsters for years now. Neil just drafted the wrong ones. That sucks. Sharpe looks promising, and potentially great. But i don't think it's awful to try to add some Veteran proven stars for a change to see what can happen. If it doesn't work , it doesn't. But if you don't give it shot , it's shameful. There will be plenty of time after Dame retires to go after the next flavor of the day. The last time Dame played with a peak All NBA talent was when LaMarcus was here. Melo was already past his prime so he doesn't count. That's pathetic.

I have been considering this as well. It helps us now and in the future. If OG truly is as good of a defender as advertised then it is worth it. Not my first few preferences but certainly a nice fallback plan. We need someone in that 230 lb range

My issue with KAT is that somehow Sharpe and Dame are no longer our worst defensive players in that lineup, which is... probably not good

Tough call for me. I think I would rather have the player who is 26 vs the player who is 34 though.
OG is a better defender at the wing and a better 3 pt shooter.
DDR is the better shot creator and ball handler though.

We need a point of attack defender in our starting lineup desperately and OG is only 25. I would definitely take him over DDR.

I admit I don't know a whole lot about him, but whenever you can get a guy who is 6-9 and as complete as he is, that is super attractive. I don't love the fact that he doesn't seem to put much pressure on the defense but perhaps his role at Bama had something to do with it. I agree that we'd need a point of attack defender but perhaps we can address that via FA with Bruce Brown or trading Ant, Nurk + change to get that like OG.

We can have Miller coming off the bench which we need to address anyways. Also, if a deal opens up later in the season Miller would be a very attractive piece.

I think Brown and Thybulle are essentially the same so I doubt we go in that direction for our FA. Too many other needs

Browns a more skilled offensive talent. But i like Matisse a lot. His 3 pt. shot improved in PDX.
