I mean, a broken clock is right twice a day. But either way, we can still discuss implications of the hypothetical scenario where it is true.
Also, the dude had this a few days ago: Can definitely see the Mavs being interested in Powell if THJ leaves. EDIT: Also this, lmao. This one turned out nicely.
Complete BS. I could see the potential CJ for Love/Sexton. Gives the Blazers a quality backup point guard, which they really don't have right now. But IN NO WAY, do they trade Dame. Now if he was to request out, then the Blazers would want a King's Ransom in return. And every Tom, DICK, & and Harry knew the KD thing was gonna happen. Maybe it's Rick Ross.
This just in. Tykendo reports the Blazers have had internal discussions on where to order dinner from.
it has been a tsunami of bullshit about Dame. What the hell is he supposed to deny? It would 24-7 of denial to cover all the bases and why should he deny the part about wanting to see what Oslehy will do? Why should he take any pressure off of Olshey? for fuck sakes, you were one of those people trashing Dame for being willing to accept status quo for several seasons, and not willing to hold the front office's feet to the fire. Now you want him to back off of what you said he should have been doing all along?
There has to be a middle ground between "I love Portland. I'm here for life" and "The enormous backlash from the Portland Trail Blazers' process to hire a new coach and his concerns on whether a championship contender can be built have become factors that may push the franchise player — Damian Lillard — out the door, league sources told Yahoo Sports." I get it. I get being frustrated. I have been extremely frustrated. But to me, it feels like Dame isn't holding himself accountable for the part he played in keeping Stotts and CJ around. This shift went from 0-60 in a matter of a few weeks.
I'm not critical of Dame. If Dame went to Neil and said something like, if we aren't a contender next season I want to be sent to somewhere I can contend. I would think that is a totally legit thing to say and should light a fire under Neil's ass. My problem is if there are rumors flying around that we're looking into players to trade for if we move on from Dame then that might be Neil saying that he's not going to give Dame a contender so he'll trade him now while his value is high. That's not shit that Dame has to deny and I don't need to hear anything from Neil because I don't trust a word that guy says.
See, I trust Dame to be reasonable but it's reasonable for him to be at the end of his rope with Neil, especially after Neil took zero accountability after the season. So if Dame made reasonable demands about where he wants the team to be if he's going to stay... the problem is I don't trust Neil to be motivated by those demands. I think the guy might take the easy way out and auction Dame off to the highest bidding contender and blow up the whole team.
Could be Dame still doesn't think Stotts was the problem, that it is the roster. But, it was also what, 3 years ago he went to bat for Stotts? And they responded by making it to the WCF. We have NOTHING to show that he is to be held accountable for CJ being around. Yes they're friends, he speaks highly of him, etc. There's no reports of Dame nixing deals sending out CJ. What is he accountable for? He's not the GM. It's on Neil to improve the roster. He hasn't done enough.
And that's really all I'm saying. I wanted Dame to come out and say, "I want to win. I want to do whatever it takes to win. If the team doesn't start moving towards a legit contender, at some point I'm going to think about moving on." He has never ever said anything even remotely like that. The guy has even said things like making his peace with never winning a championship. How did we go from wanting to retire here and being at peace with never winning, to now floating all these rumors and cryptic messages. It's just a very extreme change.
I think he probably said what you wanted him to, to Neil and with the bullshit he's been getting for anything he has said to reporters/publicly, I don't blame him for not talking straight to us about it.
CJ is basically his brother. Dame has come out in the past about being unhappy when his friends are traded or not re-signed. I'm not saying Dame should get all the blame, or even most of the blame, but he has allowed this status quo to go on for far too long. But instead of coming out and saying, "hey I'm done with being happy just being here. I want to win," the dude has been extremely cryptic and there have been some extremely sketchy reports leaked through his mouthpiece.
I'll tell you, he has always also said that he wants to bring a championship here. If he hears that presser Neil did after the season, that might have caused a very extreme change. It was all Dame's coach's fault? The problems weren't with the roster? That shit triggered me, so I can't imagine how much it would trigger someone who has as much invested in it as Dame does and knows both Terry and Neil like he does... and I guarantee you he has a closer relationship with Stotts.
