Not stoked about him saying he's a businessman that plays basketball. Tells me the motivation is the $$$ and makes me think his production could come and go based off of how he's feeling.

Stay away from Dwight. He makes no sense. Chemistry problems will arise, they always have with that guy.

Blazers were a darn good team last year. Their offense was a thing of beauty. They just need that strong defensive piece to get them to that next level......

It's not just a defensive presence in the middle, it is a paint protector that can cover up for the defensive woes of the back-court. With someone like Howard, Whiteside or a less expensive Mahinmi or Aldrich, watch the Blazer guards defensive metrics get better. It will help take the pressure off a bit as long as Stotts can implement a scheme that emphasizes helping down when the big man rotates over to pick up a guard that has blown thrown the 'defense' at the top.

No kidding. Yuck! I haven't seen such a collection of over the hill has beens since Isiah Thomas was running the Knicks into the ground. They were barely a .500 team last year and all their key players will be yet another year older.

If Whiteside actually signs with DAL, he's an idiot. Hopefully, he's just using DAL to establish his market value. Cuban has already said he will offer Whiteside a max contract. Once Whiteside has that offer firmly and officially in hand, he can tell all his other suitors they need to offer him max money or they don't even get a meeting.

    Why?

    Great owner
Decent city for a young rich black guy
    Great weather during the season
    No state taxes

Those are valid points. But basketballwise it looks like a total rebuild has to be done. And there is better place to go to win now IMO.

The Mavericks finished 2 games worse than we did. They can create the space to sign Conley and Whiteside. Pretty easy sell to both of them that they can make another run this year, and a core of those two and Matthews going forward should be a playoff team every year

I hear what you're saying, but this is one thing I'm not concerned about. Howard is a happy-go-lucky follower. In ORL he had to be the leader because reasons. In LAL his leader was Kobe, and in HOU his leader was Harden. If Howard comes here his leader will be Lillard and he can finally be the happy-go-lucky follower that he naturally is. Lillard will bring him into the fold and make him feel appreciated, rather than throwing him under the bus.

This is actually the one reason I WANT us to get Howard. I'm not stoked on him, but I really want to see what happens when a known "malcontent" is teamed-up with Lillard. I think that not only would we be a better team, but it'd be a good story - and we'd be thumbing our noses at LAL/HOU.

I actually think that - if Whiteside's issues persist - he'd be harder for Lillard to lead.

Whiteside is my #1, but Lillard would thrive off Howard picks.

I suppose Whiteside/Howard are equal in my book - and I think we have an equal shot at landing either. They both have their pluses and minuses. I'll be moderately happy if we get either of them, and only mildly disappointed if we don't...and that's just because expectations have set in.

Whiteside wouldn't dare challenge Lillard. I don't think you'll ever see anyone step to Dame. I'm not saying that cuz I'm a blazers fan. The guy is 2 real lol.

Pretty much my thoughts, except I'd probably be a bit more disappointed just because it would be a pretty massive failure to not get anyone.

And Howard would thrive on diving to the basket. Plumlee is a good finisher, but Howard is way better
