Like seemingly everyone, I don't love Jeremi Grant, HOWEVER...a little Portland/Detroit synergy would be nice. Seems like with cooperation between the two teams, we could end up with both Grant and Murray. That would make me happy.
You might disagree with it but Richaun Holmes was coming off the bench (and not playing that many minutes) while they were Starting… C: Sabonis PF: Trey Lyles SF: Barnes SG: Donte PG: Fox Looks like they could use help at both PF and SG. And given the most likely options, and the goal being win now, the most likely player to help them achieve that is Keegan Murray. I would probably take Daniels or Sharpe if I were them for the upside, but neither of them are likely to contribute in a meaningful way.
Newsflash: Tell that to the Kings. Theyre more likely to make the playoffs this year by drafting Murray than they are drafting anyone else.
Hard disagree. Ivey and Sharpe are far superior prospects at SG than Mitchell. This is obvious. They can get a power forward with one of their other tools. Your kind of thinking is why they've been trash for decades. They need to go after the highest ceiling prospect they can. Murray isn't that guy.
Sac: They have Barnes for another year. If I am him... I am out of there after that. Hasn't Sabonis shown he plays much better at the 5 than at the 4?. Murray could be a good fit. Detroit: They already have a young PF in Bagley (Who I think played well for them) If I were them I would go with Ivey to play next to Cade. Indy: They have a lot of young Talent. But yes Murray is a good fit here as well.
Murray is my favorite player in the draft but that's just because I know more about him than the others....if we keep the pick we could do much worse than using it on Murray
Detroit is obviously building around Cade and most everything else is in flux. Coming out of college he was said to be 6'7 but he skipped the combine and looked 6'5 to my eyes standing next to known players like 6'6.5" Jerami Grant. He's 2 guard sized. Yes I know about the Drexler & Jordan parable, but they'd have to be pretty smitten with 6'4.5" Sharpe to select him. I see Ivey as a really nice fit next to CC but doubt he slips past #4. Ivey is a terrible fit in Sac, so they're probably fielding offers. If he's off the board when the Pistons select, their biggest needs are at PG and Center. I think they'll be doing a deep dive on Duren. What do I know, but that would probably be my pick if I were them as he fits need + biggest upside. STOMP
Sabonis can't guard PF's ("you are what you can defend"). Whenever he and Turner were on the floor together in Indy it was Turner guarding the PF. Sabonis is a C. He's a poor man's Jokic; or a rich man's Nurkic
I think that's possible, but not probable it would pivot on who Detroit was targeting in the draft. If their target looked to be available at #7 then a trade of #7 + Buck's pick for #5 (Blazers use their big TPE) costs Detroit nothing, but instead gains them an extra future 1st and an immediate 22M in cap-relief and cap-space. They would also get to sign their targeted draftee for 1.3M less next season and pay him 10M less over the duration of his rookie scale contract where is the downside for the Pistons in that deal? I don't see any
Totally agree. Detroit has quality young forwards, but lacks an awesome, explosive 2 guard to go next to Cunningham. Detroit doesn't need a PF, they already have Stewart. Killian Hayes is so-so and inconsistant.
That's what Grant said he wanted from the Pistons where he was the number one guy, there is no reason to think that's what will be settled on with us. I don't think a contract in which he averages 26M a year would be that bad. Season after next it would probably start in around 24.5M. If you don't think that being on a winning team and playing with Dame will make Grant more effective offensively and engaged defensively then you shouldn't want him at all. If you think those things will happen then you shouldn't mind him opening up negotiations with that kind of number.
Trade up for Keegan Draft Sochan/Sharpe at 7 AJ’s knees - he’s too much of a health risk this high in the draft
