I don't agree with using a prime Pippen or prime Sabonis. Those guys weren't in a Blazer uniform when in their primes. You should only be able to use the player that played for the Blazers. Same thing applies if someone wanted to use a prime Jermaine O'Neil. The O'Neil we let rot on our bench was not the same allstar that went on to play for Indiana. I believe in chemistry so I would keep it simple, Porter Drexler Kersey With those three you have great scoring and great defense. They are better as a group then as individuals. Chemistry matters. I would add Lucas Walton Same exact thing, those guys were great together. Perfect compliment. Scoring, defense, toughness. Porter Drexler Kersey Lucas Walton It would be an insanely good defense team while scoring with ease. For the bench I would take old/Blazer Pippen and old/Blazer Sabonis. Pippen is the ultimate 6th man, can play multiple positions. Even old, Sabonis is still the 2nd best center in Blazer history. I would also add Rod Strickland, Brian Grant and.... Drazen Petrovic. There are better players but would any of them like coming off the bench? Roy? Sheed? LMA? I just don't see any of them in their prime happy coming off the bench. We're talking team and again, chemistry matters. My bench mob would play hard and not complain.
Yep! Exactly this! And Phil knew what he was doing to call them out publicly like that. Kinda like how he called the Blazers "laughing Jackals" when we won game 2 in 2000.
I think I agree. As much as I love Kersey, he doesn't stand a chance against other all time greats at the three for other teams. Here is mine PG Terry Porter SG Brandon Roy C Bill Walton SF Clyde Drexler PF LaMarcus Aldridge
Oh yeah, this changes everything. 1. Terry 2. Dame 3. Clyde 4. Buck 5. Sabonis Need to take care of that "clutch" issue" with that 90s team.
That's certainly what I'd do. And I'd also move Walton to PF. Lillard Petrie Clyde Walton Sabonis Of course, if I wanted two-way play, I'd probably go Porter/Paxson/Pippen/Sheed/Walton, and do very, very well.
If I were to put Strickland in his sober years and prime like putting Sabo in his prime, I might start Strickland with that group over Porter. He had a beautiful game
The Drexler at SF dynamic changes everything. I would do it like this Dame Porter Drexler Sheed Sabas I know Walton was the bees knees, but I just never saw him play so I can't use my "eye test". My line up would have Porter guarding the other guys 2, while dame is on the 1. Drexler's stealing ability would be havoc to other teams.
Nor am I, but I have respect for history. My team has someone from each major era: founding, title, early 90's, 2000s, current.
I went with Porter Roy Drexler Buck Sabas I also didn't include players pre-Drexler era for the same exact reason. I never saw them play. I thought about placing Sheed over Buck and Dame over Porter. In the end, I went with toughness, leadership, and longevity. Plus Buck and Porter were on my childhood team. They are my sentimental favorites.
For me it's about putting together who I think is the best not only at their relative position but also polished and talented enough to compete against the other all time great teams. Being polished and seasoned is why I put Porter and maybe even Rod Strickland ahead of Damian
