Exactly, I've made that comparison as well. If you're someone who is really impressed by point/rebound stats, Zbo looks like one of the best PFs in NBA history. Yet I don't think many fans were too upset to see him go, even though he "averaged 24/10". His FG% wasn't good because he started putting up a lot of jumpers. I'd take a PF like Williams, Lucas, Grant or Wallace anyday. Heck, I'm glad that we have Ed Davis over LaMarsha.
If I'm putting together a team that can actually play together and not just look good on paper: Dame Drexler Pippen Sheed Walton Off the bench: Porter Roy Cliffy Lucas Sabonis
My PF list wasn't intended to be ranked order. I was just going for the best five as they came to mind. But I totally whiffed by overlooking Zach.
terry-dame-damon drexler-roy-cj kersey-pippen sheed-duckworth sabas-walton-(meyers will becomes the greatest center ever if he continue his improvement, stay with blazers forever our team would kill the bulls and lakers all time team
Last years playoff train wreck was on the shoulders of alot more than Dame. I expect him to step up in D because of his work ethic and want to be the best. He is smart and I believe he knows if he really wants to improve, its on the D, so I expect him to be working on mostly D and positioning during the summer.
Well I suppose November will test your faith. We probably will get to see the Clippers, Warriors, and Grizzley's early. That ought to tell the tale.
I cant wait. I also question anyone who doesn't believe in Dame to be a true Blazers fan. Dame has done nothing but show loyalty and determination. The day after he signed his max deal, where was he found? In the gym with the summer league boys. Anyone who doesn't believe in Dame has serious blinders on. Yes he may hit a wall, but it wont be through lack of effort. I think his drive, grit and determination are gonna shut the naysayers up. With regards to the early season schedule, I will watch his one on one play, but I wont judge him on help play. The team will need time to develop team/help D. but on the one on one, I expect him to be better at side to side motion and I expect him to be better at reading the passing lanes. It will take time, and Im not gonna judge him on the first few games, but by mid season, if I don't see improved D on his part, I will be disappointed.
Question all you like, if it pleases you. I have appreciated the Blazers as my favorite team since the first exhibition game in 1970. There have been many Blazers players to to move me to appreciate their performances and contributions to the game during this time span. I really love to see consistent high performance. Watching a PG lead the league in three point shots attempted while finishing well down the board in makes, does not move me to appreciate. Then capping this off with .116, gunning them up in the playoffs is hardly admirable. I think Lillard lead the league in regular season with attempts but finished last of the top 20 shooters in three point percentage. The last guy in percentage and first in attempts? WTF? While I know this is correctable, appreciation will not come until performance changes the perception. So question my "Fandom", I am not a fanatic, I appreciate good Basketball and I like to see the Blazers do it well and hopefully the best.
No. Your right. Questioning fandom was out of line and I apologize.. I should say, anyone that doesn't think he will continue to work to improve I think doesn't pay attention to the big picture and only likes to focus on erratic moments of his play, during which the team as a whole was on a downward spiral. I don't question your faith as a fan. I question your faith in work ethic, drive and determination. I think you are rather blind to the many things that he says and does to show you he means to get better. Your lack of faith that he will do what it takes is rather perplexing.
No Kersey? I have a hard time considering Pippen to be a Blazer, just because he only played a few years for us in the twilight of his career. Also Dame/Strickland is a tough call for me.
This made me think of a great clip from Star Wars Episode IV! Darth Vader - I find your lack of faith disturbing.
starters: porter, drexler, kersey, aldridge,(young sabonis). bench: Dame, mathews, roy, lucas, walton. now if you wanna throw in the 2 two pics we should have had also...micheal jordan over bowie.... and kevin durrant over greg oden.... both those players would have been on my dream blazer team....
