No way. I'd sit crabbe down and tell him how restricted free agency works. If he wants a starting job he can go out and earn one.

Yep but if that offer includes a no-trade clause then we're stuck with an asset we don't really need at $20M a year and will be paying 75% of our cap to backcourt, with one of them a rotation player, starting next year when CJ signs.

I'm not too familiar with Crabman, why is he getting offered Arab money?

We just can't trade him for 1 year. His offer doesn't (and can not) include a no trade clause

We can't trade him without his permission, or to BKN at all for 1 year.

He's an inconsistent one trick pony with "journeyman" stamped all over him. But Brooklyn's cupboard is bare, and despite having a new GM, they have a long history of making stupid moves.....

Yeah he seems like a Marshon Brooks kinda player in terms of value.

He was so good that our first move was to sign a guy to replace him with the coach saying there was a weakness we needed to address at his position.

The thing is, even with his contract being what it is, we have enough cheap contracts that we could put together a package that might be enticing to a team. I think we can move him.

I don't think the permission thing is that big of a deal. Any team willing to trade for Crabbe at that price is probably going to start him, which is what he wants. Plus trade bonus money.

    that's what I'm saying. It's not a no-trade clause, it's a stipulation in the rules of S&T's.

LOL, no kiddin and right on. Crabbe is not worth that contract and will not be an "asset" to trade because of that contract and ONE more pt many don't know about is that if a team is into Lux tax territory which the Blazers would likely be if they keep Crabbe and pay CJ next summer - then the trade restrictions are even tougher for those teams. All in all Crabe should be let go, it is a NO brainer.

Late to the party. been on vacation and trying to keep up as a guest when I could. :)
There should be an undecided option.

Man, the nets smacked us in the face with this one. It's a lose lose situation. High risk/mediocre reward, almost either way you go. I have to say you let him go though only because I have faith in Olshey and Stotts, and they seem to have faith in PAtty C and Montero. IF these guys get some burn this year, I think they might just wiggle into a serviceable option at times (certain match ups) and they might just do what Crabbe did last year.

Once we sign CJ, we wont have any way to improve this team, other than internal development, and I don't like that inflexibility. Pretty sure Olshey doesn't either.

The thing is, if we wanted to keep him and the resat of the team, we would have already matched i'm thinking, but NO is trying to work some though out so we don't lose him for free. Pretty sure we lose him though.
If he can somehow swing something where we get something in return, he is gonna be in contention for GM of the year again.

So excited about our future overall. The direction we are taking is as commendable as it can be. The players NO are bringing in are stand up, top notch kids. Rare in today's world of thuggary. :)
FUCKIN A NO. Do your thing. I trust in ya!

This was maybe a once in a lifetime payday for Crabbe...like Wes last year..they'll never see those dollars next time around..I can't fault his decision.
