Thought it was funny. Why would any front office guy care about what Olshey is doing or know what he is doing? lol

The biggest thing Quick ever broke was ezeli arriving in Portland. That's it. Our local media knows nothing and it's kind of hilarious

But that is the only part he got right. After that it was "blazers willing to offer 20 million per year as there are 45 other teams wanting to sign him".
    Yes, I exaggerated.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I sympathize with his potential unhappiness if Portland matched, but that's life sometimes as a professional athlete. I'd feel much worse for him if he hadn't gotten a chance to find and receive his market value.

For business it bad deal to match but to make your team stronger you match.

I think folks here should note that the salary tax projections really start to level out after next year where the cap is now projected at 102 mil, down from 107 mil. So we can't expect the cap to keep going up and the contracts we sign now are important to overall team flexibility or lack thereof and lux cap possibilities.
Here are the cap and lux tax level projections thru 2020-21

The league also released projections through the 2020-21 season.

    • 2018-19 salary cap and luxury tax: $108 million/$130 million

    • 2019-20 salary cap and luxury tax: $109 million/$132 million

    • 2020-21 salary cap and luxury tax: $114 million/$139 million

If Kent Bazemore is getting 17.5 and he's older and basically the same player...

"still has meetings with other teams". Seems to me Ezeli had one flight here to get the deal done and had it done by that night. This didn't make sense either...

Doesn't wanna be here if he doesn't get a starting role, yet when asked if he would be disgruntled if matched, coming off bench, he says no...

This is why I don't trust Quick with details. I'll trust his info on the bigger picture though. He was right about Ezeli meeting up with Neil, but wrong about everything afterwards. He is correct on New Jersey offering a deal. But, I am not going to take his musings about the process seriously.

I think he has a quiet confidence about him for sure. It's actually pretty admirable. The hair really isn't my favorite but he does do it differently than most. The added hair really does make him standout. I just think he would look especially weird with hippie locks(not dreads) and that would satisfy my peculiar interest in his ears being covered, although they'd probably peek through anyway unless he added substantially more hair - which is possible - perhaps with extensions.

That's like a fennec fox trying to disguise itself like it's from New Jersey. Just be yourself.

His personality reminds me a bit of Sleepy Sam Perkins (who I still believe smoked pot before games...though not saying I think Crabbe does)

It's fun when it's Allen's Monopoly money - I'd match AC, match Mo, and let Meyers walk. His shoulder is too iffy and his upside isn't as high as the other two IMHO. We're stacked with bigs now - nice problem to have!

But if we match Crabbe and we max CJ our salaries will be around 115M next year. I think not luxury tax but over the cap. Then Plumlee walks for nothing and Meyers walks for nothing. Which means we'll also need to match Moe this year as we'll not have any depth and room to sign more players next year. So we also match Moe this year and we go to around 125-130 next year. Hmmm....I think we'll have the worst most expensive team in NBA history to be honest. And I don't think Crabbe will really be tradeable next year with all these stupid moves and the teams already reaching or exceeding the cap.

Aren't the Knick always going to hold the title for worst most expensive team? lol.

If we max CJ, match Crabbe, let go of Plumlee and Meyers we'll be paying $104M (Not taking Harkless into account). Whatever we match Harkless for would be added on to that. We wouldn't be paying that much.

I think that the 76ers would always have their ears open on a trade for Crabbe. He fits them perfectly, as they need a starting SG and they need 3 and D guy to put next to Simmons and their bigs. It's possible that retaining Crabbe would open up an avenue to trade for at least Noel. If Crabbe plays great then maybe we could make a run at Okafor while keeping our core intact.

Another thing nobody is talking about: We could have a lockout next summer which would result in a new CBA and a new amnesty clause. If Crabbe's contract is really that bad, we could possibly just amnesty him next year or down the road anyway, if he can't be traded first. We won't have cap space in the next couple years anyway, and the only problem would be the tax. Therefore, we wouldn't really be risking much expect for maybe paying the luxury tax. And even then, we should have multiple avenues to get out from underneath his contract.

    Conlusion: Match Crabbe.

I'm checking spotrac. We have 91.5M guaranteed next season without CJ (if we keep Ezeli, Vonleh etc which would be essential at such low cost). With CJ won't it be 115? and with Moe 125 at least?
