I'd like it better if it was closer to 40%. :bgrin:

I thought if the teams and player agree, they can tear up the contract like you said.

Maybe I'm wrong. Boozer wasn't an RFA, but I think the Bulls did this with Eddy Curry and Jamal Crawford. Different CBA then, though.

Another honest question/scenario: IF we don't match & if @ the end of this we're left w/ $... what happens to the $? Is it possible to share the $ w/ the current players on the roster (saw something like this awhile back but I really don't know how this all works) after a certain period of time?

Also, could we not match & then sign ~30 year old Mirza Teletovic (I know he's not a perfect replacement but he does fill some of the holes left behind) & then split the remaining $?

Allen my be rich and willing to spend, but I'd rather see the Blazers pay players (somewhat) close to what they are worth, in the hopes that you can actually move them if a trade opportunity comes along for a true third star. I can almost guarantee his deal is going to be immovable.

I'm also thinking there's potential for creating a malcontent here if he's paid starter's wages but doesn't get starter's minutes or the role he's looking for.

And Paul George shot .297 his rookie year, doesn't mean they can't shoot.

I just don't share your pessimism about him being unmovable.
Kanter's contract was terrible - he still has a market.
Monroe played like crap with a big FA contract - he still has a market.
Matthew F-ing Delly just got $10 mil/year for FOUR years.

I'd WAY rather have Crabbe than 2 Dellys.

I like him well enough to match it. I would then give him a real opportunity to be starter heading into the season.

He's just a real smooth, heady ball player who is growing more confident and consistent with his jump shot. Something you can count on. That and athletically he is gifted. And he also brings something defensively.

I would not be surprised if they match him and start him. Turner can be a great 6 man and ball handler with the bench mob

This! He's a guy who when he shoots, you think its going in. That's valuable as fuck, and he brings other things to the table. And he's an asset. We're in the drivers seat, match.

This may have been a move by Crabbe's agent to get Crabbe some starting roster leverage

I vote match. If he really hates his role, we can trade him. We no longer have cap space and do not see us with any for a long time.

Lol what? How many times did he foul shooters behind the three point line?

    I'm 50/50 on matching though

I also don't buy that he would be discontent in returning to his role in Portland. Quick ain't the most trustworthy source.

You match, easily. That doesn't mean you keep him, but you match. Trade him later. He has good value for teams starving at the shooting guard position.
