Question to all: Who will be better when both are about to retire? Do you whink Wade will lead his team to the finals? Do you think Wade will get MVP for the season? Iverson already accomplished those things because he is like a 10 year veteran. Wade has been in the league for 3 years. Do you think wade will do those things in the future?
To make it fair to durvasa in terms of RIGHT NOW, AI is still better either way. Laker_Fan brought up a good point. Wade has yet to consistently win without Shaq while the team is still filled with talent. Wade molded his game after AI for crying out loud and you really think he's perfected it better than the master himself? I doubt it. However Wade is good in his own ways, like personally I think he is better at finishing at the basket with those arobatic shots but at the end of the day AI is the man. Much better shooter, more experience, makes his teammates better, faster, more clutch and makes overall better decisions. Again, I'll go back to the point where I'll wait and see what happens when Wade reups and well have nothing but average players around him. This was the same thing I had with Kobe and AI. Kobe was amazing with Shaq, 3 rings and whole nine yards. But when the table turned and Kobe was stuck with medicore talent it became evident that he isn't superior as to AI as much as people thought. I'll admit that Kobe is surperior to AI, but not by a large margain at all. Majority of NBA fans thought he was by far surperior but it's clear taht Kobe is just a shade over AI.
Unfortunately for Wade, he will probably never win an MVP unless he leaves Miami. He has too much comptetion, and too much help on his team. AI has already won an MVP, and reached the finals. Wade will have to win a couple rings to be considered better than AI at the end of his career. I agree that AI could have led the Heat to a better record than Wade did without Shaq. That's only because AI is more used to doing everything and has more experience. Even when Wade was a rookie Odom was the team's first option. Wade was barely ahead of Eddie Jones in scoring. Right now I would say that AI is better individually.
this is my top 2 fav players but iverson is first. i say allen iverson b/c wade is becoming better but allen iverson is already there i can't believe you say wade even though he is 2nd in my top 10 fav players
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Laker_fan:</div><div class="quote_post">Iverson. Wade hasn't proven to me that he can win consistant games without Shaq. Wade is still a rookie, along with LeBron, Carmelo etc.. They are on a different level to the vets like Iverson. With experiance, I'm sure Wade will end up catching Iverson, but right now, Iverson leads him. I'm actually going to go ahead and say Iverson is better than James.</div> Wade took Miami to the 2nd round of the playoffs his rookie season. He basically carried Miami to the Conference Finals last year as well. I love Shaq, but Wade was definetly carrying Miami last year in the palyoffs. If it wasn't for him going down with that injury we would've definetly go to the Finals. Wade is a proven winner. From triple doubling his way into the Final Four to Leading a team to the Conference Finals in his 2nd year of the league. I think Wade has surpassed AI, but it really is a good question.

I know that's not what you mean, but that's what you seem to have said.

i dont know how u guys say he makes other people better hes surrounded by all stars and how does he make them better? and i thought the coaches were supposed to do that a player can either pass or shoot the ball and wade is the most ovverrated player in the nba how can u guys take wade over a allstar veteran 10 yr pro?

No he doesn't, if anything that should be what your saying about AI. Just because your on a winning team, babied, and can dunk doesn't make you better than someone who has been carrying his team since day 1. Wade? Gimme a break, Wade is good but not better than AI.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting durvasa:</div><div class="quote_post">That honestly makes no sense to me. Who's better NOW is implied. Who cares who's better "overall"? Would you say that Gary Payton is better than Dwyane Wade, since he's had the lengthier and more accomplished career? Obviously if someone asked "Who's better, Payton or Wade?" they want to know who's better right now. The question you're answering is "Who's had the greater career?" It's a completely different question.</div> It makes perfect sense, the question never says who is better right now, it says who is better which you can only take as overall who is better, and its Iverson. I agree, right now Wade is playing better, but overall, Iverson is better, he has better averages and has a more accomplished career.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting NTC187:</div><div class="quote_post">It makes perfect sense, the question never says who is better right now, it says who is better which you can only take as overall who is better, and its Iverson. But the original poster can clarify what he meant.
Well comparing there career's is kinda dumb since Wade is a third year player and Iverson is 30 years old. Saying the thread is about career's is just a copout to not want to admitting that Wade can be argued as better RIGHT NOW. Since when do people compare careers of a third year player, and a 10+year veteran, please. In terms of who is better now, I'd say they're equal, but if I had to pick one I'd go with Wade as he obviously has a huge age advantage. Iverson is nice, but while Philly has bad defense, so do the Bucks, and they've had injuries to Mo Williams, Ford, and Smith, but Redd who is not in the same caliber as AI is able to give them a similar winning percentage to Philly's with AI. .481% to .485%. I can agree that they do have a very weak bench though, it's quite sad really. Wade without Shaq we know can still put the Heat at over .500 for a season. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Give AI a team like this without Shaq. Walker Posey Zo Williams Payton Haslem</div> Webber is better than Walker, even with him being hobbled, Walker is not that great. JWill has had knee problems all season and James Posey has been off and on with injuries, though Iguodala is better than Posey anyways. Alonzo is better than anything the Sixers have inside, and Haslem I don't know who he's being compared to, but he's better than Hunter and Salmons[though he isn't too bad] in a different way. Miami is 3-1 without Wade: @ Pho - L @ Cha - W Atl - W @ Cha - W But obviously ability to win against Charlotte and Atlanta does not reflect a teams ability to win games through a season. If everyone had 75% of there games against those teams they would have similar records to the Pistons. <u>Without Shaq:</u> Wins: NJ, Hou, Cha, NOH, Phi, Por, Nyk, @ Atl, @ Sac, @ Tor Losses: @ Mil, @ Ind, @ Tor, Dal, @ Orl, @ Den, @ LAC, @ Sas, Den, @ Min, @ Cle The problem is that they weren't just without Shaq. For example vs Cleveland recently they had: Williams-Wade-Anderson-Haslem-Doleac with Walker and Payton coming off the bench. That's not really a superior team to what Philly has, and the effect of having a 20 PPG second option [though Webber isn't great right now] is an interesting one. Other players out in games Shaq was out: Jason Williams: 3 games James Posey: 4 games Alonzo: 1 game Now, it's still not great, but they had 12 games at home and 9 on the road, that balances out through the year 50-50. vs the East they were 6-5 and West 4-6. They had 5 of there 6 West losses against Top 5 Western teams, and 5 of there 10 West games agaisnt Top 5 Western teams. Over the course of the season, you don't play Top 5 Western teams in 50% of your games vs the West, since there are 10 other teams out of the Top 5. So really it's hard to make any conclusion about Wade's ability to win without Shaq, and last season in the playoffs, during the season, and in his rookie year he showed he was able to do it. He's still winning at similar percentage to Philly with Iverson this season, and that's while playing tougher competition; [more road games than home, 50-50 East and West (for a season it's actually 60-40), 50-50 Top 5-Bottom 10 in West] than an Eastern team would actually face through a season.

Kobe has taken the team on his shoulders to a 7th, or 8th spot w/o even nearly as much supporting players and depth as AI. Kobe is superior to AI not a shade....
Actually Philly has one of the worst teams in terms of depth in the league, so there's no argument about depth with either guy.

You never know. It's his 3rd year and he is a MVP type player, and is getting better and better. Better this year: Wade Better in the future: Who knows. Wade could be Better career right now: Iverson < he got more experience Makes players better: Iverson Better scorer: It will be iverson always. Wade will never win a scoring championship Who i like better: Iverson End up with a better career: No one knows, but right now i think Iverson, but since wade is getting better and better each season it is hard to predict.
