<div class="quote_poster">Quoting yanix:</div><div class="quote_post">^ exactly. give them a chance, we have only seen a glimps of yet to come with this new laker team. and i agree that w/ this trade LA could become title contenders but it is also not good for them in the long run. give them a chance....</div> ok i guess so... you guys have changed my mind.
First let me say Hello, This is my first post on the JBB forums. I am glad to be apart of the JBB community and i hope i can make a positive contribution to these Forums Now that is out of the way, to my post I dont think Kidd and Kobe can mesh, not yet anyway. Now i am not a expert on the lakers but i think Kobe wants to control the offense of the Laker, if Kidd was brought in Kidd would have to be in control or you lose his best asset. Now just trading for Alonzo might be a good move. If mourning wants to go there, he might feel like he would be going to another N.J. type situation. A front line of Mourning and Odom looks pretty good to me. If the lakers have a really bad year (and i think they will) Kobe should mature alot and start to recognize that he cant score the lakers to a another title all by himself. Despite whatever he thinks he is not MJ... not even close.
No way lakers are title contenders this year...with or without zo....i cant wait for kobe to start bitching about he needs help to win a championship...Just like Paul Pierce, Vince Carter and Tmac when he was with the Magic.... Contenders???? Watch out for UTAH this year...Deep and talented...
^ you will never hear kobe say those words... even if they wont reach the playoffs, he still wont bitch about it.

Plus, the Lakers are doing nearly as well as that "championship-caliber" team I know out East. People...it's okay...I realize you can't take away the fact that we dominated your teams throughout the years, but that's not my fault. And to the Kings fan...when do your regular season wins ever matter? That's right...they never have.
realdealbneal it seems you have avoided actually dealing with the content of my post and dismissed it in your mind and in your post with a snide remark.I challenge anyone to sell the lakers as a better team than the kings. The fact of Kings>Lakers can only be avoided or accepted.

We picked up shaq in 1996 as a free agent, by the way things are going in Houston I wouldn't be surprised if Yao shops around and really so many players are looking for title teams and if the lakers pick up another player that is that damn good, well they are no doubt title contenders. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Someone has a tough time swallowing their pride.Look at each teams records, who theyve played and beaten, and the fact that Sac beat LA in their first meeting so far and theirs no way anyone can say this.Kings>Lakers no doubt.Besides, the kings werent even the most questionable title contenders that Chungster listed in his post. Sorry but when people spout off ridiculousness like this, someone needs to say something.</div> Swallowing my pride? I didn't know i lost it. Comapring to the fact the Kings game was lost due to coaching and because the Laker's are a new team and also the Kings. Also as Brandon said, as long as you get in play offs regular season wins don't matter as long as your make playoffs, and really everytime the Laker's/King's meet in play offs.... who wins, WHY? cuz who has the clutch shot, Kobe not Peja. Peja is a choke that's why you guys loose in the play offs, he can't hit a shot when it counts, he could get 30 points, but he never has made that 3 point shot to win the game. So really I don't find records right now to be true because the Lakers have been playing together for what 3 months, and the majority of the Kings had been playing that year for what, 3-4 years? I think there was a clear advantage and if the Lakers/Kings played today I think the Lakers would win.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> ....i cant wait for kobe to start bitching about he needs help to win a championship...Just like Paul Pierce, Vince Carter and Tmac when he was with the Magic.... </div> When he does that, be sure to tell me. For the record, the Kings are playing better then the Lakers and have a better record. It doesn't necessairly make them better because teams are graded on how far they make it in the playoffs. Not trying to say that the Lakers are going to get farther then the Kings or vice versa, but comparing them now, especially based on one (close) game is absurd.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Zhone:</div><div class="quote_post">No team in its right mind would trade for Alonzo Mourning for another player. A very creative team could try to trade a recently retired player's contract for him, though, if the retiring contract were a bit cheaper and within the trade restrictions. Seventeen million (17,000,000) and three years left on his contract. That's about 5.6 million a year. As an owner, I would avoid a contract like that unless I could figure out a way to help my bottom line.</div> presuming j.kidd and zo stay healthy, which is a big "IF" the lakers would go deeper in the playoffs which means more revenue streams. the lakers with their current roster configuration would probably get knocked off in the first round, so there is an imperative to make this deal, if on the table. and i disagree about ZO's contract, u compare his contract with other centers and he appears to be a bargain considering his impressive output this season. although, from the nets perspective, brian grant's contract is really burdensome, that might be the deal breaker.
Well, I think Zo is very tradeable...if the Nets are adding Kidd. By himself, he'll be tougher to ship out...but for a team like Los Angeles or the Nuggets, who are possibly interested in Kidd, then they'd more than likely take Alonzo with him.
I dont like the Trade. Butler is going to be an all star. You wait and see. I like the trio of Kobe, Butler, and Odom. Young and athletic. We need a good point guard, and a couple big men. We can find that in the draft. The Lakers core is great. We just need role players to fill in the gaps. Zo and Kidd have just a few years left, and with the risk of injuries, they are not worth it. Im looking for long term success, not a single year or two.
