They were in the WCF, and acquiring LA, Rudy and Joel would actually make them better IMO. I REALLY don't think they are in rebuild mode.
And why the hell would Amare choose going to Portland over playing with Wade/w.e 0% chance this is a possibility. He's going east. Oh yeah, we don't have a GM.
He'll be back in the morning. Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man look like Bert Kolde; oh, those eyes! barfo
No way Amare comes here, he has said he hates cold climates and were not exactly sunny 90% of the time. That being said as "soft" as LMA is his defense has improved every year and will continue learning from Camby, his offense isn't a banger type like Amare's but his defense is a lot better then Amare's. He will also go from the #1 option on a team to the #2 so his ppg would drop and his looks would too. He could play with Shaq who loves to play close to the basket so could he play with Oden who has shown he loves too to? Guess what i'm saying is that Amare is one of my favorite players to watch but without Nash and a system that really plays towards his abilitys would he really be that much of an upgrade over Aldridge?
So I've been trying to think about why Wojo would write that, b/c he's not stupid (or all the other things you might say). The best I could come up with was this: I have no doubt that Sarver would like to cut payroll. He might see this as a way to trade Amare for, say, the Knicks' 2015 conditional second-rounder, which would give him a 17M-ish sized trade exception. He then could trade his big exception to the Knicks for a S&T David Lee at an LMA-sized contract, so in effect he's getting 80%-ish Amare production from Lee for 6M less a year (30-35M over the course of a contract). He'd then still have around a 6M exception to use if shenanigans go on this coming year like they're doing right now.
Lee in Arizona would be fun to watch. Better big man passer then Amare, I just wonder if he can keep his points up near what they were this season in Arizona. If so its a great deal for them.
You mean, going from glorified garbageman to having Steve Nash looking out for you is detrimental somehow to point production?
Bucher on ESPN tonight: LeBron --> Chicago Bosh --> Houston Amare --> New York Johnson --> New York Just a few hours earlier, Stephen A. Smith has it like this: LeBron --> Miami Bosh --> Miami Wade --> Miami
lol for some reason Steve Nash did not play into my thinking at all, it more went like "well Lee is going from #1 #2 and #3 option on a horrible horrible team to a #1 option on a team that has a huge supporting cast of scorers"
