yao didnt deserve to win. he may be better than amare in the end but theres no reason to give him the award based on expectations.
So it was Amare-not many had him for ROY at the start of the season. It was mainly Yao mainly because of the hype he was getting. I think Amare deserved it more than Yao but it doesn't mean he'll have a better career than Yao as much as he should when you compare his numbers to others who left at high school(example KG).
T-mac....u r tellin me that Yao Ming will dunk on someone? He will have a much better career than Yao...Yao's bone will start hurtin sooner or later....I mean Amare may be shorter but he's stronger and can do more than Yao....I don't agree with that comment of Amare not havin a better career than Yao....after all it's an opinion

Yao may have foot problems that usually hurt guys over 7-feet, but Amare has already had toe problems for a lot of the year. That's not really a good sign. It's kind of hard to say who is going to have a better career, though, because on one hand Yao is a 7'5 player who can pass very well and already has some nice post moves with an outside jumper. Once he learns how to put that all together to make it work in a game and once he gets rid of one of the two ballhogs on his team (Francis or Cuttino, most likely Cuttino will go) then his numbers can skyrocket. Amare on the other hand is the third option on a team and still got numbers as good as Yao. He is just going off his strength and athletic ability right now. Once he learns the basics of how to play an NBA game then his numbers can skyrocket as well. Also, when speaking of the best players from this class, pretty soon people are going to have to mention Nene Hilario in the same breath as Yao and Amare.
I knew that Amare Stoudamire was going to win, but obviously that wasn't much of who I wanted to win (haha, Yao). Yao could be a great player later, you never know...just imagine...another Shaq if he learns the game well!
