The average 3pt percentage is 35.4%. However most guys will shoot more difficult 3s whether it be contested or off the dribble. For spot up, wide open 3s (Which is 90% of the 3s Aminu takes), 37% is very average if not before average. However, shooting doesn't just mean 3 pointers. He's awful as a shooter outside of 3ft, shooting under 30% from 3-10 feet, and under 40% in the 10-15ft and 16ft-3pt ranges. Now, this is for the regular season. 37% being barely above average. However his FG% of 43% for the playoffs is still below the season average of 45%. Yet, you're acting like he's been this superstar player because he's only had 2 good games, yet you're trying to paint it as "2 games that were the sole reason we won, and other, better players could never have such games because they've struggled lately." Your logic is extremely selective. You seen to think 14ppg on 43%FGs and 37%3pt on shots with no defender within 15ft is "primetime". But that doesn't include the multitude of insanely dumb turnovers he's had this playoffs. I like the guy, he's a good bench piece, but he's not what you say he is.
Yeah I haven't watched him. I remember Doug Christie bricking a corner three off the side of the backboard so bad it shook like after a Shaq dunk.
Anyone who thinks chief sucks i dare you to challange him to a game of basketball. CHALLANGE HIM. I bet that mother fucker makes you pancakes and beats you by 20 in a game to 21.
I mentioned that to Terry Porter. He said: "I should've just shot it..." while shaking his head. I could still see how it affects him to this day to think about that play.
I disagree. Shooting wide-open jumpers with no defense is much different than shooting the same Js in a game. Something tells me he hits in practice
And he also drastically improved his 3-pt shooting output. Olshey and Stotts did their homework and asked for Aminu to improve his game in certain areas. I think he was a great addition to our team and will continually improve his game.
I've been to several games where Aminu is draining three after three after three in warm ups. Mostly from the elbow to corner. Rarely up top.
Yup. Having been to a number of practices, I can say that most of these guys are amazing shooters in practice. Nobody considers Dale Davis a good shooter, but he would drain shot after shot in practice.
Damn straight! A 30 point game and a 23 point game will do wonders for the average. Aminu has been inconsistent all year, and in the playoffs, but when he's on he's ON. When Aminu is that third scorer we need, and he's doing it efficiently, the Blazers are TOUGH to beat.
I'm happy when Aminu takes that open corner three. Not so much when he shoots from the top. He may feel the same, as evidenced by the unguarded pump fake and dribble drive from that location.
The good news is, if the Warriors keep leaving Aminu open, and if he continues to make them pay, they will have to stop leaving him open. If that happens, it will open up CJ's mid-range game, and Dame won't have to keep shooting such ridiculously difficult shots all game long. Even though King will be insufferable if it happens, I hope Aminu continues his hot shooting. The pain will be more than worth the benefit.
I don't know why you guys go out of your way to bash a Blazer in a Blazer forum. And you bash me for praising a Blazer player in a Blazer forum. Think about it. Dude could score 23 points on 10 shots and grab 10 rebounds and you'd still slam him because the shots were open. Oh wait.
