Okay, let's follow this along. So we amnesty CJ, then somehow get two of our biggest free agent acquisitions ever in Gallo for $15 million and Joe Harris for $11 million. You would've had to renounce Whiteside as a free agent to get that cap space, which I'll assume you're good with too (correct me if I'm wrong)? Would you have waived Ariza or picked up his salary for next year? Edit: Counts as $1.8 against the cap if waived, $12.8 million if kept.
I would probably waive ariza, especially cause I think Little needs those minutes and Im good with moving on from WS if Nurks healthy which as GM/Owner Id have this inside knowledge.
Do you mean both of this year's draft picks? I'd use them, think the draft doesn't have a lot of star potential guys, but I think it has some depth of potential role players, so grabbing a couple of guys and seeing if they can contribute is fun and I like the draft in general.
Okay, in your scenario I'm going to assume you have Hood pick up his option and you get stuck with Hezonja next year too. Sorry not your decision, they are player options. 1) Dame 2) Nurk 3) Collins 4) Simons 5) Little 6) Trent 7) Hood 8) Hezonja 9) Gallo 10) Joe Harris 11) 1st Round Pick 12) 2nd Round Pick 13) 14) 15) You have about $10-$12 million left to fill out the roster (unless you want to be more realistic with what it would take to sign Gallo since he turned down a similar offer from Miami in the proposed trade), plus you get the $5 million room exception if you use that. Your trade exceptions are all gone because you used cap space. How are you rounding out your roster?
The same way almost every other team does it. Really cheap end of bench guys. I'd try to keep Wenyen, and Hoard and look for another young prospect who wouldn't cost much from the g-league preferably a big, but I may leave the roster spot open to see what comes along, would also be looking for cheap vet pg's who I can trust to run the show if Simons never figures it out. edit: if that's confusing I'm saying I'd look for either a center or pg on the vet min with the last spot or leave it open. The other two spots would go to hoard / gabriel. I think that team is better than our current one.
Tortured's Team 1) Dame 2) Nurk 3) Collins 4) Simons 5) Little 6) Trent 7) Hood 8) Hezonja 9) Gallo 10) Joe Harris 11) 1st Round Pick 12) 2nd Round Pick 13) Gabriel 14) Hoard 15) Open Versus Realistic Team 1) Dame 2) CJ 3) Nurk 4) Collins 5) Simons 6) Little 7) Trent 8) Hood 9) Hezonja 10) Ariza 11) Whiteside 12) 1st Round Pick 13) 2nd Round Pick 14) Gabriel or Hoard 15) Full-Mid Level Exception You're taking your squad?
So until Hood is back to normal I'm assuming your lineups would be something like this: Starters: Dame, Trent, Joe Harris, Gallo, and Nurk Bench: Simons, Hood, Little, Gabriel, and Collins Deep Bench (unless they take a big jump or injuries): Hezonja, Hoard, 2 draft picks You think that's better than: Starters: Dame, CJ, Ariza, Collins, and Nurk Bench: Simons, Trent, Hood, Marvin Williams (just plugging in a potential signing), and Whiteside Deep Bench (unless they take a big jump or injuries): Little, Gabriel, Hezonja, 2 draft picks
My starters would be. Dame, Harris, Gallo, Collins, Nurk Bench: Trent, Hood, Simons, Gabriel etc. edit: and yeah I think it's better. I've already said that. I also think it's a lot more flexible long term depending on how many years and all that those guys would get.
I like don't even know where to start with you, ha ha. You've been talking all year about the lack of talent but somehow managed to make the team WAY LESS talented. The defense would be absolutely horrendous as Harris would get abused at the 2 and Gallo can't play 3 anymore. Plus you don't have a single starter that can defend on the perimeter. That team has like a mid-40's ceiling in terms of wins, in my opinion.
Well its not like Gallo and Harris are the only guys out there, I said this years crop of FA’s isnt that great. They should in theory with that group be able to stretch the floor pretty well. If Hood comes back (with a big if on if he is ever the same)he probably starts, it Little makes any sort of leap he could start too. Then you have a defensive lineup if you need and can mix and match 2-4 to balance it out. Again though, Id amnesty CJ if I was in charge and it was an option. He doesnt match his contract at all in production and they basically dont have much of a future IMO if he and Dame are taking up almost 2/3rds of the cap
Id rather trade CJ in the off season for an old timer Al Horford who still could play a couple more years and would be a nice addition off the bench or even starting depending on match ups. Philly can use a back court player that can shoot and create. Horford gives Dame and company another chance in the playoffs.
If a trade like that is available, maybe, but Horford is not fitting in well in Philly, and he's on the fall off with a big contract. The thing is I don't think a trade like that really exists for CJ. How many teams are looking for inefficient combo guards who arent very good on defense? Not sure Horford would fit with Nurk, and I'm not sure you could play both.
Both are bad contracts CJ 4 AH 3 years. They have Harris playing 4 mostly, AH could play both 4/5 and he's a decent defender even now. Just not sure trades for CJ are that easy and if Philly was willing to entertain it, well?
1) Dame 2) Trent 3) Nurk 4) Collins 5) Horford 6) Little 7)Simons 8) Hood 9) Hezonja 10) Ariza 11) Whiteside 12) 1st Round Pick 13) 2nd Round Pick 14) Gabriel or Hoard 15) Full-Mid Level Exceptio
