It is pretty crazy. How do you just watch that game and say the Caps showed they are equally as good. I'm sorry but that is a sad reach from Jones...real sad. I'm not saying the Caps can't beat us in the 1st round, they certainly can (NHL playoffs any team can win), but just no way can you say right now they showed they are just as good...no way.
The PP dosen't necessarily have to score, right now at least, but they need to find combos that work and show more consistency going into April. I'm not worried about Yandle, he's getting used to some of these guys and probably trying to show he's unselfish at the start. He's my boy.
I'm worried about Klein as well. I do not want to see a Hunwick/Yandle third pair. Did you see the Ranger fan by the tunnel when Klein walked by? Looked at Klein, looked back ahead and just went "Shit." A little comic relief in what could be a terrible situation. Big Mac?????? No chance AV plays him, especially this time of year..right?
Boston won the cup with the WORST power play in the playoffs that year. It is not the be-all-end all. Not to mention when this team is already THIRD in the entire league in scoring goals. I mean enough already. We all know it sucks right now but that doesnt mean we should just cancel the playoffs. Yandle will get this system down and when he does the powerplay will be just fine.
They just need to get the units right and in sync that's all. Yandle will get going and start shooting a little more. And McDonagh needs to get out of Ripvanwinkle mode. And that would be very bad Dump. Very bad.
Very happy at this point. Greyv got it right.....5 top teams and we get 9 points. I did not see this coming at all. I AM IMPRESSED. PS. Get well Klein. Ovechkin's shot is a lethal weapon.
Rangers defenseman Kevin Klein was taken for X-rays after the game. The team said there would be no update until Thursday. Let's hope he's okay, or worst case he misses a few games and is back.

Classic board banter. Chuck telling Step to be patient with Yandle when he was calling for Cam's head after 2 starts. Looks like Cam wasn't blowing smoke when he said he wanted to be a starter, he'll have no problem landing a job elsewhere next year. Yandle is a huge upgrade over J. Moore or Hunwick at this time on defensive ability alone. What sucks most about Klein getting hurt is that weak, undersized, useless bum Hunwick will probably get the nod. As Al pointed out MSL is 3rd on the team in scoring and second in goals scored but he's done according to some. Until Sheppard decides to man up and throw a check or two Glass should play over him every time. The Rangers are in first alone but the negativity continues.
Hunwick is not a righty and AV likes 3 righties on defense. Kostka as we know f'n blows. McIlrath is the only option and he's been playing very well now in the AHL for a while. .
Mess and I were NOT calling for his head. Mess and I said we didn't think he was good enough to be a starting goalie and play well enough to help carry us to wins over very good teams. We were wrong and both flat out wrote that. Get it right please if you are going to pop in for your twice a week posts, which for some odd reason usually involve me somehow, and try and call stuff out...LOL.
If Klein is out short term Hunwick will be the guy IMO. If Klein is out long term then they may try a plan B.
Klein was wearing a wrap on his arm as he left the Verizon Center. Asked if he was doing OK, Klein said, “No, not really.” Klein played 18:36 with a shot and two blocked shots. “He’s in the process or he is going to get some X-rays,” coach Alain Vigneault said immediately after the game. “He blocked a shot but I haven’t really asked a lot of people [about his status].”
30 days left in the regular season from today. So 33 or 34 days until game 1 of round 1. We'll see...
Yup, I've admitted several times now I was wrong on Talbot. He has been great down the stretch here. With where they stand having technically the best record in the NHL he has done way more than his job.
