there are 96 minutes a night available at the guard spots and Wes CJ & Dame could each average 30+ as any combo of the 3 should mesh just fine. Most every team in the league goes small ball for long stretches so I don't see size as a problem. I definitely liked the pick. Portland had a few needs including really needing another guy who could create off the dribble beside Lillard. Maynor's addition mid-season really helped their offensive flow, and CJ should be an even better offensive threat as well as being cheaper. I really like that he can shoot a high % off the dribble STOMP
Watch that 18 min video, the one with Simmons and Rose interviewing CJ. I think you'll come away more excited.
I kinda like the pick as an energy guy off the bench. I don't think he has the size to be a starter. Hows his leg healing? Didn't he fracture it towards the end of the year?
He's our Vinny Johnson. We can't play him and Lillard together in the backcourt without have the worst defensive backcourt in the past 20 years. But you've got to love the kid. Now we need to hire Paul Westhead and outgun the other teams.
McCollum isn't a bad defender. He'll be better as a rookie than Lillard. The size hurts, but he's a solid 200 lbs and is quick, so that helps.
Intelligence and willingness to study are a couple of the most important attributes to being a good defender. So he may not have the best physical attributes, but he will make it up elsewhere.
having run into him with my Dad on the Black Butte golf course at the tail end of his PTB days, he's about 6'. No way is he the 6'2+ that CJ measured barefoot at the predraft. I'm 5'10 and wasn't looking up when we were shaking hands on the tee pad. My dad (who is also 5'10) stood next to him and I was struck by how 6'3 TP and him were so close in size. STOMP
