Yeah, I know. But giving him 9 Million is like going into you're bank account and just throwing money out the window. Hes worth about 6-7, thats pretty much it.

If that is what hes getting offered by Memphis, Cleveland will match it. I know Ferry will go all the way to at least 7 or 8 Million.

Maybe its not just about money...you have to factor in this guy wanting more PT and more room for him on the offensive side(which I dont want to give him any room)...

He gets enough minutes with Cleveland, and hes always in when the time matters the most. Hes very happy in Cleveland, which is why I don't see why he wont be kept.

Also, its always about the money, its hardly ever about PT.

I never said money isnt a factor, but I would personaly take the offer where I get 7mill and 35 minutes of PT every night rather than the 8mill with 23 minutes of PT every night.

CLEVELAND ? The Cavaliers may be making some "big" decisions in the coming weeks.A league source said power forward Anderson Varejao could sign an offer sheet from the Memphis Grizzlies that will pay him more than the mid-level exception, which is expected to be between $5.5 million and $6 million. However, the Grizzlies, who have slightly more than $8 million to spend, also are reportedly courting Chicago's Andres Nocioni, so there's a chance the Cavaliers could get lucky and spend only mid-level money to retain Varejao.Using $7 million as a starting point and factoring in the maximum 8 percent annual raise allowed for a potential five-year contract, Varejao's potential deal with Memphis would be worth slightly more than $41 million.Medina Gazette---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------8 mil is as high as I would go with him. I used to think it was too much, but Varajeo gives us exactly what we need in a front-court defender and hustle player. I just hope he would live up to his contract. Nocioni is another player that would fit well into our system, but he just doesn't really fill any needs. He would give us some good depth, with Miller getting hurt a lot.

I just hope we dont pass up Varejao to take Nocioni, he gives us depth and he can play PF, but he doesn't solve any of our needs, although he would do really good in our system. But we could easily put Warrick at the 4 and he can do practicly the same...score but not able to defend the bigs. We just gain depth with a signing of Nocioni.

QUOTE

The Plain Dealer - According to sources close to the situation, Cavaliers restricted free-agent forward Anderson Varejao has not received any offers from the Memphis Grizzlies or any other team. There have been several reports the past few days that the Grizzlies or another team have made an offer to Varejao, but as of Thursday evening those reports are not true, according to those same sources. Several teams, however, have expressed interest and they have contacted Varejao's agent, Dan Fegan. The Cavs can match any offer made to Varejao, but they may not if Varejao, who came off the bench last season, is offered starter's money (between $6 million to $8 million per year). Starting forward Drew Gooden makes about $7 million per season, and because the Cavs are close to the luxury tax, it would almost cost them double to keep Varejao.
Link to RealGM

From what I understand, Memphis hasnt extended any offers to Varejao cause they were focusing on Nocioni. Now though, Nocioni has agreed to resign with Chicago so we might see a offer from Memphis to Varejao and/or Milicic.

QUOTE

Cleveland's Anderson Varejao flew into Las Vegas and was meeting late Sunday with the Memphis Grizzlies, who appear to have made him their new No. 1 free agent target after failing to acquire Chicago's Andres Nocioni.
http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/insider/col...&id=2930125Awesome  I hope we can get him, but I also hope we dont go overboard by overpaying him. We'll see, hopefully Wallace can reel somebody good in.....but I honestly believe Varejao is exactly what we need as a team.

    Grizzles Turn To Varejao
QUOTE

[IMG]The Memphis Grizzlies lost out on restricted free agent Andres Nocioni and now it appears the Grizzlies have turned their attention toward Cavaliers restricted free agent Anderson Varejao.Varejao's agent, Dan Fegan, met with Grizzlies' General Manager Chris Wallace in Las Vegas last Sunday, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal. It is not believed that the Grizzlies made an offer to Varejao. The Grizzlies, according to the Commercial Appeal, also are interested in free-agent forwards Mikki Moore (New Jersey) and Darko Milicic (Orlando).
-RealGMI hope that the report before about Danny Ferry saying he'll match ANY offer that Anderson gets, is true. I really wouldn't like to see him go, but the only way I'd let him walk is if they offer him like 8-9 Million. Then they are outta their minds, and they can have him. OR, we can work out Sign-N-Trade deal, so Cleveland can at least get something outta this.

Sign n trade is possible...but your not getting Mike Miller, sorry but some Cav fans are idiots...I really would like to have him. He would fit well in our system...probably better than everyone else on the market short of Gerald Wallace.

I never said anything about Mike Miller. We wont get him, I'm pretty sure of it. I just want something for him if we don't resign him.

Some of them actually think we can trade Larry Hughes and get Kevin Garnett. I am a long-time poster on Cavs.com. I'm actually the No.1 overall poster, until I got banned not to long ago. Some are great posters, but they are overlooked by the morons that post stupid trades. They say Hughes is trash, yet believe they can actually get KG, JO, or whoever for him. Makes me laugh nonstop.

The biggest flaw with the NBA.com forums is theres no structure. I swear, if theres any news about the Grizzlies theres like 5 topics on the same thing...Also, I dont know if the Cav fans are like this, but the Grizzly fans are so negative and only talk trash about certain players and constantly want to trade Warrick and Gasol for weak players..I post there sometimes, but the forum has some really horrible members...
