Andy Reid and that schizophrenic offense have obscured the great defensive coaching they've had over the years. Jim Johnson was one of the better D-Coordinators I've ever seen and he produced quality head coaches/coordinators like Ron Rivera, Leslie Frazier, Steve Spagnuolo, Jon Harbaugh. Brian, how has Sean McDermott been replacing Johnson?
Well he's no Jim Johnson... Our defense isn't nearly as good as it was last season (that's how I'm comparing, similar personal for the most part), but it has been pretty good so far. I really think we're missing Dawkins not only for his leadership, but for his production as well. The management thought he was old and done, but that's clearly not the case because he's been great for Denver. Wish he was still here, he could've helped direct the defense and he's better than Macho Harris or Sean Jones. Overall though, for a first year guy, he hasn't been too shabby. Besides the Saints game, I don't think we've had any huge defensive letdowns, or maybe I just can't think of one right now...
