Maybe Ant put on too much muscle. All that gravity must be slowing him down. My dad bod definitely created more gravity. I’m not as fast as I was.

Trade Grant and Simons to Brooklyn
    for
    Simmons, Finney-Smith and (3) unprotected 1sts: PHX 2025 PHX 2027 and Brooklyn’s 2028

We would need to move Finney-Smith, Thybulle, Murray and most likely Simmons, although I’d like to see what Simmons and Williams III can do. Maybe these two are trade deadline moves.

Ayton, Simons and unprotected 2030 #1 pick

    to Atlanta for

    Risacher, Capela and Bogdanovic

find a trade scenario for Grant (Warriors?)

    Clingan / Capela
    Dani / Walker
    Risacher / Camara
    Sharpe / Thybulle
    Scoot / Banton

    Flagg in 2025!

Brooklyn doesn't have those Phoenix picks, Houston does. Brooklyn doesn't want to trade is own picks now that they're rebuilding.

Still think Orlando might be interested in Simons, but maybe only for one of a pick out Black.

Nets actually do make sense. I could see a deal where Cam Thomas goes to a 3rd team.

I'm fully convinced at this point that Cronin is not interested in trading Ant--for the moment, at least.

There doesn't seem to be a market for him so of course Cronin isn't interested in trading Ant. He is a Blazer until a player gets injured off another club most likely.

At least in that case, we would get value back. But IMO the only negative about Ant is that he makes about 5-7 million too much for a shooter coming off the bench. That is his perfect role and he would be great at it for another 7-9 years.

So. Is he our starter? And if so, at the 1 or the 2? And if it's the 2, does that make Shae our starting 3 or on the bench?

Yes, he's our starter, and at the 1, but not actually the 1, because Deni will run the offense. At least, that's what I'd do if I were Chauncey. But as has been stated ad nauseum, anything we laymen say we would do differently than the professionals in the positions we critique is ridiculous, so feel free to ignore my opinion.

Ugh! That would just be setting Shaedon up to have a harder time getting better at defense. Keeping Ant is a nightmare because if he hasn't been sold on Scoot and Shaedon being this team's future and hasn't been told that there is no more Ant on 5 basketball like we saw a lot last season then he's going to hurt Scoot and Shaedon on offense and we already know that Ant hurts everyone on his team on defense.

Don't worry, in Cronin press con for Clingan, he said the Blazers are invested in Scoot and Shaedon. Din't mention Ant. Kept Banton. Ant will be moved but only for the right return, this summer or by deadline.

I think if we have a point forward on the floor then Ant is a better option next to him than Scoot. I am just not sure Deni is a pt forward. But then again I have never seen him play other than the highlights.

He looks like a forward who has above-average handles, not someone who can run an offense. But I guess alongside Ant and Shae maybe they don't need someone to run the offense Maybe they just need 3 decent ball handlers on the court together that can also shoot. Regardless to me, it is just one scenario that could be used. Not the only scenario.

So Scoot off the bench? Even after trading Brogdon?

Honestly the more I think about it the more I’m convinced Ant would be the ideal Crawford off the bench. A guy who can light it up off the bench and give you instant offense while still being able to run the team.

As a coach you are faced with tough decisions like this and have to do what’s best for the team. I would start out the year with Ant coming off the bench! Pop and Kerr both did this with some of their stars. Tough pill to swallow for Ant but sorry….not sorry

That was a dumbass thing to do unless you already had a trade for Simons locked up.

Crawford was a massive loser everywhere he went. Maybe that's the problem.

Also, I get the feeling Chauncey buys into the idea of the pecking order and wouldn't go for that.
