Wasn't what I was saying. Just that it's weird how Miami's "culture" has been defense, and yet Damian sucks ass at defense.
If you're extra good on offense, and if your teammates are strong on defense, you don't have to be a good defender. Steph has never been known to be a defensive player yet he has 4 rings
Herro, Robinson, Strus, and Vincent all pretty much sucked ass at defense too, and Miami didn't have a problem with playing them....a lot.
Smart is gone now; he was dealt in the Porzingis trade. But yeah, with Tatum, Brown and Zinger all making big money, Ant wouldn't make a ton of sense.
I'm just riffin off the trade proposal/rumor whatever from the video. I doubt Ant has little value unless he becomes a sniper like Lillard. No defense, all offense. But Lillard is drawing little interest too. Maybe we will see a shift to defensive minded guards now.
I don't believe Lillard is drawing no interest...I do believe Joe has put a firewall around the FO dealings and nothing is leaking to the media and Dame and Goodwin have gone silent as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see this end with a multiple team deal where we move a Dame and possibly other players we have ..I don't think it happens quickly but probably will get worked out this month at the earliest. Strangely Scoot hasn't been the big story in Blazer media as much as Sharpe or Ant or Grant. When it comes to Miami...I'm ready to ask for Bam for Dame at this point. Stop shopping at the bargain bin and get some top shelf talent back. Dame for Chet Holmgren...just get better in a Dame trade at any cost.
Nah. I’m a fan of both guys, but at this point, Simons is a better and more proven player than Suggs. Even if we got Suggs, it wouldn’t make sense. Upping Ant’s value to trade him for Carter Jr and Suggs is really taking a step back than a step forward. Now we’re going to have to up Suggs’ value to trade him? Doesn’t make sense to me. Wendell Carter Jr is a nice player. Not trading Ant for him unless multiple picks were involved.
I am hoping we stay patient with dealing Ant. I can see a contending team trading for Grant and giving adequate value for him. If Dame is sits, I expect Ant to be the team’s leading scorer. Scoot might be a really good scorer soon, I don’t expect him to be the team’s leading scorer though. But I DO expect Scoot to do a better job of moving the ball around. With an uptick in shots, I expect him to be a 24-25ppg player next year, even if he doesn’t improve his overall efficiency has a bounce back year from 3. In games starting after Dame sat 2021-22: 23.4/2.7/5.8 on .456/.423/.866 In 11 games starting w/o Dame 2022-23: 27.9/2.9/5.7 on .462/.411/.941 It’s fine to think he’s only going to be a good 6M, that’s your prerogative. But to sell him low and not let him get a season playing without Dame to improve his value would be FO malpractice. If Ant gets dealt, I would guess it happens next summer barring a ridiculous offer from Toronto, Brooklyn, Orlando, Charlotte, etc. But if he puts up similar numbers, a team will have two full years of Ant at a great salary—and I would expect at least a young player and 1-2 1sts.
Obviously he didn't get dealt last off-season, but is it time to resurrect this thread? Anyone have any reasonable (ie, not involving Franz Wagner) suggestions?
Honestly, I think the best course of action is to trade him for a guy who has recently been drafted along with additional incentive. I'm talking about Ausar Thompson or Jarace Walker types. Perhaps bad teams willing to offer a couple of upcoming picks.
Not sure what OKC plans on doing with Hayward. If they don't re-sign him, there might be an opening there for a bench scorer next season.
since Orlando seems to be the most mentioned destination: * Ant for Wendall Carter Jr. + better of 2025 Orlando 1st or Denver 1st, top-5 protected (Orlando could have the cap-space to make an unbalanced trade) I'd like to see Ant traded but I don't think he has a lot of value and is a bad fit on most teams
I'd probably do that trade. I think WCJ is a bit over-rated as a player. I wouldn't mind flipping him for additional assets though. However, if Portland wanted to keep WCJ - this would allow Blazers to shop RWIII in trades.
Unless they love Quickley, maybe the Raptors for Gradey Dick, salaries and the worse 1st in 2026? They have their own and the Pacers.
Maybe the Pelicans are feeling like a Simons-cj backcourt would be good? (Hahahahahahahaha). Simons and one of our lotto picks for Brandon Ingram?
I don't really know what WCJ's value is. I've seen in him games when he looked pretty damn good. I've also seen him in games when I didn't even notice he was on the floor
