also, one must wonder....if this will be a pathway for insurance to pay for breast augmentation if it were preceeded by a masectomy as part of "preventative care". I mean a very low number of covered nose jobs are really for "breathing difficulty". also have to wonder if angelina's breasts looked saggy and this was a way to get some implants in without her looking too vain about it
I think she is doing a very bold thing and is an example for those you think we don't care so much about. I think it's also remarkable she's putting the odds of avoiding cancer over vanity. And this is very different for her than for most because she is a celebrity. Brad Pitt is also setting an example for the rest of us. Though I know if it were my wife going through all this, I'd be 100% supportive.
She's doing something thousands of women do every year. I don't see why it's noteworthy other than the fact she's famous and attractive.
Pretty sad. I guess I've never understood why someone else's life would be more interesting to me than mine or my friends' and family's.
Why did you care about Oden having knee surgery? Was it more interesting to you than yours or your familys' or friends' ?
Because I care about the Portland Trail Blazers. I couldn't give two shits about Oden's life outside of how it affected his game. And his knees are certainly less interesting to me than my own, one of which needs to be replaced.
Jolie's health, looks, body parts, etc., are all a part of her presence on screen. Just as you care about Oden's knee affecting the team's play, people care about her because they like the movies she makes.
She makes R rated movies and exposes her tits on film. I have a wee suspicion that her bare tits increase ticket and DVD sales.
Again, why do people care? All they would know is she got a tit job. Why is it important to know why? Also, when was the last time she showed them? I've already more time on this issue than she deserves to get from me. My point is that we care too much about the lives of others. Like Jason Collins being gay. Why should we care about his private life? I suggest we try to find meaning in our own lives, rather than being a society of peeping Toms.
Jolie and Collins make their living exactly off a society of "peeping Toms." Without people watching them, they'd have to find some other line of work. They are entertainers. They tell or are part of stories. Those stories are real life and fictional. It is what it is.
Whatever enjoyment I ever received from Jason Collins (which IIRC was him getting posterized by our players) had nothing to do where he was sticking his dick. And whatever pleasure I received from watching a film starring Angelina Jolie didn't have anything to do with knowing that she carried a certain gene that predisposes her to cancer. I like sports because I enjoy competition. I like film because I enjoy the art of storytelling and communicating that story through acting. I don't care about their lives outside of those arenas. Come to think about it, I don't care about their lives at all. Why do you care about their lives outside of basketball and acting? Why do they matter more than other gay people or those with that predisposition to cancer?
Collins' story is a real life drama. He came out at personal risk and in a sport (sports world) where athletes do not come out. Though nobody complained about Wilt claiming to have slept with 10,000 women, which was an interesting story in itself.
So, people you know aren't dramatic enough for you? You don't know anyone who has ever come out of the closet? And I don't care about Wilt for the same reason I don't care about Jason Collins or Angelina Jolie.
It's a really small circle of people who know the people I know. Angelina Jolie can get published in the NY Times. The people I know, can't. I know several people who've come out, but ESPN didn't cover it. You make me state the obvious for some reason.
Just because it's covered doesn't mean you have to care. Why do you care? Why do you make me ask the obvious question over and over?
