Ike for Odom and no Murphy? WTF? There goes our low post presence... Being big, athletic and 6'10 doesn't mean one can score on his own.

Portland gets Andris Biedrins, #9 Portland gives up #4 (Brandon Roy), Leonard LA Lakers get Murph, Dun, Roy LA Lakers give Odom, Bynum, 2007 1st rnd pick GSW get Odom, Bynum, 2007 1st rnd pick, Leonard (expiring contract) GSW give Murph, Dun, AB, #9 <div class="quote_poster">Quoting custodianrules2:</div><div class="quote_post">REREM, you've been beating a dead horse that Monty is the "#1 problem/#1 priority to get rid of" in every post you make, but let's not overrate PJ making Murphy/Dunleavy a good fit for Kobe Bryant's team.</div> BTW I had to chuckle a little bit over this. Sounds like Colonel Phil can pull a rabbit out of his hat.

And then Portland kinda just sacrifices #4 to get Biedrins and a #9 rather than addressing their biggest problems (D-Miles and finding a good trade for Zach Randolph and maybe getting value for one of their 4 point guards) Pretty much works for me from a Warriors standpoint, though. Eat that blazers and lakers, feed the beast! <div class="quote_poster">Quoting jason voorhees:</div><div class="quote_post"> BTW I had to chuckle a little bit over this. Sounds like Colonel Phil can pull a rabbit out of his hat.</div> If that was the case, the '03 Super Lakers wouldn't have lost to the Pistons. But they lost the instant Karl Malone was unable to enforce the areas where Shaq and the other guys couldn't because he got hurt. What were they going to do, go to Luuuuuuke Walton? Then Payton kept getting owned by quickness and his backup was DFish who suffers in the same department... I mean the Lakers starting five was awesome, but the bench left little room for adjustments. I see the same problem with the Warriors, but with a lesser starting five. We don't back up Dun and Murphy with Zarko. That's just awful even though offensive games are a little bit different, defense is more or less the same... Soft! I do think the world of Biedrins as a project (but would rather have Andrew Bynum a lot more because of different body types, even more potential), I like Ike Diogu, Monta Ellis, and was impressed with Taft with his minor roles. I like Pietrus when he's in an open court situation attacking slower defenders, but anything else we might as well have a pet rock make the 5th guy on the floor. It would be smarter too.

Can't say that about euro and high school projects. The number of successful guys from that group that are good right away is pretty small, especially for a big man. I wouldn't definitely do Biedrins for Bynum. I'm having doubts about a guy who averages a higher field goal % than his free throw % by almost double.

New W's lineup: SF: Odom (who would fit nicely with Baron I think), Zarko C: Foyle (ugh), Bynum (19-yr old who has upside like 2006 center crop), Taft (solid backup if healthy) PF: Ike (finally gets a position of his own), Odom, Taft SG: JRich, Fish PG: Baron, Monta, Bynum New Kobeshow lineup: SF: Kobe, Dun C: Mihm, Kwame, Turiaf PF: Murphy, Kwame, Cook SG: Roy, Kobe, Sasha PG: Smush, Sasha
If we're keeping Ellis, I doubt Wil Bynum stays. Baron, Dfish, Ellis as point guards and maybe look for a free agent shooting guard or a 2nd rounder to fill in. Hope we luck out and land the next Michael Redd for a 2nd rounder.
Ugh, I don't like Odom, Chandler, or Boozer and their contract situations dont help their cause. Odom is just too soft and passive, he might have finally figured out how to be effective in LA, I dont want him coming here and getting lost between being a scorer or a distributer again (plus hes got a huge contract). Chandler is extremely raw, not very smart, big contract, cant even get the starting center job over Mike Sweetney. I'd rather have Biderins who probably already weighs more than Chandler does and ever will. Boozer is injury prone, bad attitude, max contract and to be honest I'd rather have Ike in his prime since he'll be a better shot bolcker, shooter, and teammate. I'd rather get Magloire than any of these guys and he won't cost as much and hes got a more cap friendly contract. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">btw, this is more than a little off topic, but did anyone see that thing on the Warriors a month or two ago when they did a featurette on the vets taking the rookies clothes shopping? There wasn't anything especially memorable about it, except one thing. They said Diogu, at 6'8" and 250 lbs. had a 34" waist. Now I'm 6'4" and about 210, and in pretty good shape, and I have a 36" waist. That's like a real-life, badass basketball playing version of a barbie doll. </div> Lol, yeah I saw that it was on an episode of "After the Game" after some playoff game. They showed Ike with his shirt off and the guy is ripped, he looks a little fat in the Warriors uniform but it didn't look like he had an ounce of fat on him.
I see Monta getting more back up minutes at the 2 behind J-Rich, and I favor both he and Will Bynum over Fisher. I think Bynum should back up PG and Ellis back up SG but Ellis should be on the floor whenever possible so perhaps at the PG spot occaisionally
I think Phil Jackson can take a player with talent-but problems, and get some good results. I think Monty can take good players put them in bad situations and make them look worse than they are, while generally not upgrading their talent package. One guy is a Hall Of Fame lock...one is a longshot to last another season. Fish,at this point in his career,is inclined to fall back to his habits, which includes slowing up and thinking he's the guy to score. Foyle? I see him sharing the C role, not getting big minutes. His touches on offense should only be when the percentages are good for him-bad for anything else. If the 24 is near up,I'd as soon have Foyles hook from 5 ft as Dun chucking from 25. I have SEEN Murphy play very good ball. I do NOT think he is philosophically against being a very good player. If he was getting 16-17 pts, near 12 boards and playing avg or better D...does that SUCK? Well...he CAN. In fact just before twisting his ankle-he was doing a bit BETTER than that for a run of about 8 games. I noticed he was not out at the arc or playing that kick the can zone junk, was playing his man tough, was ruling the glass, was scoring with good efficiency and in his range. It's pathetic Monty needed a year and a half to finally unleash him. Of course...Monty..and many of us forgot that run,or see it as not relevant. I feel you NEED to see just those type things, see the situation where Murphy = Dirk, where Ike > Sheed, where Monta= Chris Paul and Pietrus = Diaw. I'm sure tape exists. I gather Monty has yet to break it down,to extract the needed lessons and build a plan based on these "best case" factors. Anyone else remember how we ran the F####in' Suns into the ground-TWICE with Baron the new Catalyst? With Monty we keep getting the Worst Case scenario for most of our players and I somewhat fear we trade guys as damaged goods-then find out that who we GET-is also just 2/3 of what he can be as Monty mis-uses him.
I tried to keep an OPEN mind about Monty and then my brains fell out. Monty will likely get fired mid way in the season and Elie will take over. We have seen that Mullin doesn't make changes to his choices very easily while he's quick to get rid of others. 2007 lottery here we come.* *At least the 2007 draft prospects look deep and Greg Oden could be ours.
