Herro makes way more money than Ant
Ant has a much longer wingspan
Herro has a stronger lower core but T Rex wingspan
Ant is liked by his teammates
Portland has shown they don't value Herro on their team all offseason...
Herro doesn't play a position of need.
Ant could be a terrific 6 man

Only plus side in Ant vs Herro for me is that it’d be easier to make Herro a super sub vs Ant (already an established Blazer starter).

Is the assumption here that we take back Herro in a Dame trade and then trade Ant somewhere (hopefully for a young big)?

Tyler’s playmaking is developing nicely and I think is a better fit because of that with Scoot and Sharpe.

    I vote Herro.

I really don't think this will be a problem as much as fans think it would be.

they are the only two outside shooters in the league? let me check:

    1 Luke Kennard .494 (14.7M)
    3 Damion Lee .445 (2.5M)
    4 Malcolm Brogdon .444 (22.5M)
    5 Tyrese Maxey .434 (4.3M)
    6 Gary Harris .431 (13M)
    8 Joe Harris .426 (19.9M)
    10 Corey Kispert .424 (3.7M)
    11 Kentavious Caldwell-Pope .423 (14.7M)
    12 Jevon Carter .421 (6.2M)
    13 Sam Hauser .418 (1.9M)
    16 Patrick Williams .415 (9.9M)
    17 Alec Burks .414 (10.5M)
    19 Doug McDermott .413 (13.7M)
    21 Bojan Bogdanović .411 (20M)
    22 Keegan Murray .411 (8.4M)
    24 Joe Ingles .409 (11M)
    25 Isaiah Joe .409 (2M)
    27 Jordan Nwora .408 (3M)
    28 Bogdan Bogdanović .406 (18M)
    33 Kevin Huerter .402 (17M)
    34 Jerami Grant .401 (32M)
    35
    Georges Niang .401 (8.5M)
    37 Grayson Allen .399 (8.9M)
    38 Jaden McDaniels .398 (3.9M)
    41 Donte DiVincenzo .397 (11.5M)
    42 Norman Powell .397 (19M)
    43 D'Angelo Russell .396 (18M)
    45 Torrey Craig .395 (2.6M)
    46 Grant Williams .395 (13M)
    47 Kelly Olynyk .394 (12.2M)
    48 Caris LeVert .392 (16M)
    49 Nicolas Batum .391 (11.7M)
    51 AJ Griffin .390 (4M)
    52 De'Anthony Melton .390 (8M)
    55 Royce O'Neale .389 (9.5M)
    57 Devin Vassell .387 (5.9M)
    66 Troy Brown Jr. .381 (4M)
    67 Derrick White .381 (19M)
    68 Reggie Bullock .380 (11M)
    70 Tyler Herro .378 (32M)
    71 Anfernee Simons .377 (26M)

now, some of those guys were on rookie deals. But that was only a list of "qualified" players (IIRC qualified = pace to convert 1 a game). If you expand the list to all players, instead of Herro/Ant being 70th & 71st, they were 150th & 153rd

teams don't have to pay 26-32M for 3 point shooting. Ant is undersized, has very limited PG skills, can't play wing, and is terrible at defense. Herro has the same flaws but he more than doubles Ant in rebound rate

I'm so tired of Portland paying super premiums for flawed, limited, undersized players

Did I say the whole league? I am talking about our team. Who are you trading their contracts for? Yeah, these guys on this list can stand at the 3-point line and shoot, but most don't have the combination that Ant has with the three, mid-range, and ability to get to the paint and can't create their own shot. I much rather have him coming off our
bench than most on this list.

Ant vs. Herro only have 1 game for comparison as starters matched against each other. Tyler missed the first matchup last season because he's a wimp.

    Ant vs NO Herro:
    Simons 25pts, 4 ast, 0 reb, 1 to, 9-20 fg,
    - the Blazers won by 3.

    Ant vs Herro game 2:
    Simons 14 pts, 2 ast, 0 reb, 3 to, 5-12 fg
    Herro 14 pts, 4 ast, 4 reb, 1 to, 5-13 fg
    - the Heat won by 21

so in the actual heads up matchup, Tyler played a better overall game, and his team won in blowout fashion.

If we're getting and keeping Lowry for any period of time, I'd rather have neither guy coming off of the bench. For those who say that would leave us with no shooting I would say that's a huge exaggeration. In March Shaedon averaged 2 for 5 per game over 16 games, I think that efficiency would hold if you doubled the attempts. Matisse hit 38.8% of his threes last season and I think he could increase his number of shots significantly without losing that efficiency. I think more so than Dame who shifts defenses and then sets teammates up after the double comes, Scoot will collapse defenses and kick the ball to shooters who are just as open and do so more often.

All of that said I don't really give a fuck. Once the trade goes down we will be in asset building and talent developing mode so all I want to see is young players getting better and the remaining mid career players being showcased for the trade deadline.

If I had to choose one out of Ant or Herro to play in a back court rotation with Scoot and Shae I think I'd take the one who would yield the lower return from a third team in that initial trade with Dame involved.

    One game.

There will be many Player X who played better against Michael Jordan in one game

the thread is Ant vs Herro
They played 1 game against each other last year.
*you'll note I called Herro a wimp for missing the first matchup. So if you'd like to add Ant's totals together to feel more confident about Ant vs Herro, I left that door open for anyone to do so.

They're the same. The difference is not significant whether you think Ant is better to Tyler is. We already have Ant. We don't need Herro.

    that's Ant or Herro
I responded to Ant vs Herro
there are many similarities between the 2 players. The biggest difference I see is Tyler is a SG that can swing up to SF. While Anfernee is a PG who can also play SG.

It is possible to run them in the same lineup, they are versatile players. Blazers could conceivably call Shaedon and Tyler "wings", and run them with Simons & Scoot.

There's no room for Tyler. I didn't build a Blazers team with too many guards. If he's the best trade asset in a potential Lillard package, maybe run him in Portland? A friendly Ant vs Herro showdown? See which player looks better long term, and trade 1 at the deadline or next summer.

Issue with other teams knowing you need to make a trade is you get less than reasonable offers. Why create a problem by adding Tyler?

naaah... there's no problems in Portland. It's a full rebuild. Teams will be trading for talent available. Doesn't matter what role they play on the Blazers.
STATS! they're both shooters. As long as they hit their percentages, their trade value remains the same.
