    Makes sense. Which is precisely why i cant take him seriously. I respect him for standing up for what he believes in....

    I feel like lebron, wade, melo and cp3's way of protesting this stuff was wayyyyyy better.

    Yeah...I completely disagree. They used a venue that guaranteed them tons of attention to say a bunch of stuff that nobody could disagree with, and got more attention for the fact these big stars were speaking than for what they were actually saying. The only aftereffect was praise for them for their choice to speak.

    Kapernick chose the least watched part of the least watched games to do something by himself and for his own conscience without any fanfare or guaranteed attention, with a message (if noticed) that he knew would be controversial. And as a result, he's actually initiated (our perhaps just refreshed) a conversation about the issue.

    Don't understand why anyone is outraged. Even if you don't like the method of protest, you have to admire that he's protesting something that is very real and needs to be fixed.

    People are going to criticize the method so that the meaning is lost and nothing gets fixed. So kudos to all the people criticizing the method - you're a part of the problem. But that's just what the folks in charge wanted, anyway.

    It's actually worked...he's gotten more ink than any victim ever did in the media.....I still criticize his method mainly for my own values about how he should represent his franchise and fanbase. I have no problem with his activism, just with his choice of soap box....growing up with the Civil Rights movements of the 60's I'm not so sure this guy fixed anything.....it seems to me racial tensions are heading the wrong direction

    Why is it even close to being funny? That's going to be the standard now for police protection? If they don't like someone they don't have to do their jobs?

    So you're saying part of his job, that he's paid for, is standing for the National Anthem? So all the others who do stand are only showing respect because they're paid to?

    (Not saying this is your view, but) it's funny: I bet there's a huge overlap between the groups who get their panties in a bunch about sitting for the national anthem and the people who support Kim Davis and pharmacists who refuse to fill prescriptions for Plan B.

    He is respecting the fans. The fans like me who think that the whole thing of playing the national anthem is total bullshit. Finally we get OUR representative.

    1. What if only half the family does that, while the other half rolls its eyes?
    2. Shouldn't the family respect a visitor's lack of religion, too?

    What I said was clear...it's only my view and value system..I respect freedom of speech..you can argue about the anthem with someone else Rasta....it's a simple courtesy like taking your shoes off before entering a Japanese house....no big deal. Please....I don't want to be anybody's overlapping group member
