I'm concerned that you're becoming a liberal. Wanting to control what everyone does is some left wing nanny state type of shit.

Interesting take on Liberals Sly. But worry not. I am nowhere close to being a lefter. I do however hover in the center on some issues, and more right on others and left on a few (like environment). You could say I take issues one by one to make a decision.

Yeah, that's a BS question. If someone becomes enlightened to or aware of an issue, does it really matter at what point in life or their career it happened?

IMO I think Shaq is inferring Colin didn't do it back then because he knew he'd be cut (traded, whatever), losing out on millions. Basically his money is more important than the real issues.

Man, hasn't this thing had it's 15 minutes yet?

I do not care if Colin Kaepernick stands or sits during the national anthem. My love for my country is not impacted one way or another by his choice to demonstrate his dissatisfaction with the state of racial affairs in America by sitting during the playing of the anthem. He's more than made his point. Can't we just let it end there?

Frankly, I kind of wish that they'd do away with playing the national anthem at sporting events. I've never understood why this is done in the first place. If I go to any other entertainment venue (movies, opera, ballet, ice skating, etc.) I do not have to listen as some local talent strains to hit the high notes as they butcher the "Star Spangled Banner". It just seems kind of weird to me, especially given the number of international players in most sports these days.

I don't know if I agree that the flag represents the troops. The flag represents the country. The troops wear the flag, but the flag represents much more than just our troops or what our troops have done.

And for every good thing that American troops have done, there have been plenty of bad things that have been done by men wearing that flag on their arm, both on foreign soils and domestically. Our country has done a lot of messed up things, and we have caused/or been a party to a lot of the problems that we're dealing with globally. Specifically, South America and the Middle East are both royally messed up and a lot of that is because of us, Britain, and France.

So I can see why someone would not want to salute the flag, because I could see why some people would not be proud of this country. I think that's how I feel right now. I'm proud of our origins, but I'm not happy with how this country is being run currently and the flag stands for more than just the past.

I seriously hate people. I respect colin for what he has done, but the normal everyday person....

Idk if its just because of the election, or changes in america, or whatever. But people are so vile to each other nowadays.

Why such name calling? Trust me, ive hurled some insults and received some too, so im not completely innocent. But holy shit. Go read facebook comments under any news article referencing.kaepernick, and it will make you not even want to be around anybody.

I don't even go on facebook anymore. It's just people posting nasty things about the other "side," and for the most part I don't understand why people can't be civil. Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't make them literally Hitler. I feel like our country is more divided now than ever before.

The entire Seattle Seahawks team will protest the national anthem at opening game

The Seattle Seahawks will become the first NFL team to join Colin Kaepernick’s silent protest during the national anthem this Sunday.

In their home opener against the Miami Dolphins, the Seattle Seahawks have planned a “big surprise” during the national anthem, according to starting linebacker Bobby Wagner. Wagner emphasized that the entire roster will take part in the protest, though he didn’t specify if the team would sit or kneel.

“Anything we want to do, it’s not going to be individual. It’s going to be a team thing. That’s what the world needs to see. The world needs to see people coming together versus being individuals,” Wagner told the Seattle Times.

I'm going to protest by refusing to watch the Seahawks play. I haven't decided if I will do that standing or sitting.

So what's the end goal here? If you're going to protest something, there should be a clear deliverable that you're looking for, no?

So Kaepernick is going to sit during the anthem until......... what exactly? I mean, I guess I could sit during the national anthem until government corruption ends..... but I would be sitting for a very long time.

Sign of the times, people used to take a stand for things, now it's a sit.
