    Hello darkness, my old friend
To me, the main problem with the MLB draft is that few people know the players being drafted. High school players almost no one has seen except obsessive baseball fans in the region the player comes from. And even college players aren't well-known since college baseball isn't popular like college football and college basketball. So there isn't a big focus on the MLB draft by mainstream baseball fans. Bigger fans get interested in prospects after the draft and after they've begun doing something to get on prospect lists. Casual fans get interested in players once they reach the big league team.

Yes, that is a factor, but we don't know all of the football players either. Part of the reason the NFL Draft works is we have Mel Kiper telling us who is good. If ESPN were to send somebody like Rob Neyer, to throw out an ESPN baseball writer who happens to live in Portland, to televise the draft and tell us who to look out for and who will be a bust, we'll learn who is good early and maybe some people will start to follow prospects and college baseball more.

Depends on who the wildcard is.

If it's the Mets, the Dodgers will play the Phillies. If it's the Brewers, the Dodgers will play the Cubs (since teams from the same division can't play each other in the first round).

I know we have a few Dodger fans and Cub fans. Probably some Mariner fans besides myself and a few other teams as well. I'm trying to find out how many, so I stickied roll call threads in all of the MLB team forums. I would appreciate it if people would respond to the threads. If you don't want to post there regularly, that's fine, but it is an easy way for me to keep track of who likes baseball around here. Thanks.

I'm a Cardinals fan. But, I've been to a game at Chavez Ravine about 3 years ago. Holy shit, never seen as many hot women in skimpy skirts and tight tops during the summer. I was in hog heaven.

My favorite park is still Busch Stadium though. Anheiser Busch every where you go, the beer flows like water at that stadium. St. Louis has a really laid back approach when it comes to beer, they even sell it at little league games.

I was a Dodger fan back when Greg Brock, an Oregon kid, was playing first. I had some interaction with him before he hit the majors , one of my few brushes with fame.

    Not to date myself, but...

To make room for Cey at 3rd base, they moved Garvey to 1st and Bill Buckner from 1st to the outfield.

Russell was an outfielder they converted to SS.

I was a huge Lopes fan.

Growing up in Chicago, I went to about 40 games a season. Usually after school, after the 7th inning they'd let you in for free if the game wasn't tied.

Tickets then cost $1.00 for bleachers, $2.50 for grandstand, and $3.50 for reserved grandstand.
