It's just so much fun beating the Lakers that I don't understand why everyone wouldn't be excited about doing it all season....we might run them outta the gym all year....that ain't happening against the Warriors though.
That would be disappointing...owning them in a game is not easy with the refs they own but if you do...it's worth a whole season of basketball!
I picked both the Jazz and Suns clearly above the Blazers. The Blazers have a lot of variance and its very possible they have a real good or a horrible, bad season. We don't know how much coaching and scheme changes will help or hurt. We don't know about injuries to the Blazers or competitors. We don't know how bench production will improve or fall short of Melo and Kanter. I don't see how my outlook is similar at all to claiming the Lakers are a dominant west favorite as is a very common national narrative, and I've said is ludicrous.
So, if the Blazers aren't good, the Lakers must be great? That seems to be your logic whenever someone points out deficiencies with the Lakers. What if...the Blazers are mediocre and the Lakers are an old, mostly terrible roster that will depend on two injury-prone guys to carry all their success?
I believe I have. I've said the Blazers year has a strong chance to go very bad with trading Lillard at the trade deadline being the best move. We aren't there yet and I hope that isn't how the season turns out. Maybe it goes great and we get a top 3 seed as Lillard has done twice, and we win 1 or more playoff series. I really don't know what will happen and each end of the spectrum has realistic chances, although contending is less likely than failing. It's not as fun to dwell on the failing scenarios so maybe those don't get discussed as much. I'd rather think about how the team can succeed and we deal with a failed season if it happens. The thing is, nobody is picking the Blazers as a west favorite as many are with the Lakers, so there is no national predictions of Blazer success for me to argue against. If anything national media has already picked and discussed many Blazers failures with narratives of Dame demanding trades, which is totally false as Dame confirmed. Where are the stories of LeBron or AD demanding trades to a real contender?
Next thing we will see from you is that LeBron is old, the Lakers suck and the Blazers are winning it all this season!
Well, he is old and the Lakers suck, but that's an independent of the blazers winning or not winning a title. It's what's called an independent clause. It has no bearing on the veracity of an argument.
They are elderly and more vulnerable, but the Blazers are all vaccinated. It's the Brooklyn Nets and Washington Wizards of the world that scare them.
I've never been so excited to root against a team in preseason. They play the Suns again on ESPN today.
