I started on boston.com's message boards, where I was eventually banned for threatening a Knicks fan, then jumped to BBF (someone on the boston message boards told me about it prior me getting kicked), stayed there for like 3 years and am now banned, someone told me about this place prior to that. I also post on BBW, talksox, and am considering making my own Celtics forum. And now you know. Was JBB like a huge forum? Because if all the JBB guys here right now are all that was on that forum, it probably wasn't much bigger than s2 before the Blazer move.
It was much smaller than S2, but it was very tight-knit which is why people have fond memories of it. I do too. It was the first time I tried posting on a message board and it was an awesome environment. I'm pretty thankful for the merger though, to be honest. Towards the end of the JBB days, I felt so confident in my opinions on a variety of subjects. But after we moved to S2 I realized that I was still fairly ignorant. In hindsight, I definitely felt smarter than I actually was because JBB's membership was a lot younger than most sports messaging boards. JBB Chutney was no smarter than the average Lakers fan, which is shameful when I think about it.
JBB was just a tight knit community of hardcore Basketball fans. We all respected each other and Shapecity really put work into the site. I was running the GFX section then. What memories! haha...
