Oh Man.....No cartridge. The materials doctors use now can dramatically change your life. This will be an endurance battle. Good luck Bro.. I'm rooting for you.
Well, April 1st first total knee replacement. 6 mo. later second one... Doc strongly advised one at a time as it cuts down risk of problems big time. If something goes wrong at least you have a good leg to stand on. Outpatient surgery as he said I was in good enough shape. I was a compulsive runner for 25 years, eat to run, run to eat, and now Im paying for it.
This surgery scares me because I have to let you win all disagreements for 12 months. This surgery will be hard on me, so how about doing both knees at the same time.
Im tempted too believe me...this way i get to come home on the first day if they do two they send you to a rehab place for a couple weeks, my wife wants me to do that.
I think Julius was talking about that (although now that I reread it, maybe he wasn't talking about doing two simultaneously). Anyway, I hope you have minimum suffering. I'll go easy on you as long as I can hold out.
I would do the one at a time. When you say "rehab place" do you mean a physical therapist or a nursing home? I once stayed in a nursing home for a couple weeks. Actually it was twice, and I didn't like it. I'll never rehab on one of those joints again. I will go home for my rehab. The food is bad and they never get your meds right. My first nursing home was a Catholic one on the corner of Murray and Farmington. The second one was a VA one in Vancouver adjoining the Vancouver VA hospital. The VA nursing home, like the Portland VA hospital has food that you can't keep down. My first hospital stay that included a stay in the ICU for about three weeks served food so bad that I literally threw up every time I tried to eat it. I lost 40 lbs. My wife started bringing in food from a restaurant or, better yet, from home. My advice? No nursing home.
Im doing 1 at a time..I think my wife would like me out of the house for a few weeks though! Knees or no knees.
Having left knee replaced a week from Monday 3/25. In and out same day. When I had my left testicle replaced with a cocktail onion it didn't go so well! Every time I drove by a hamburger stand Id get a hard on and my eyes would water. Not sure what will happen with my knee?
Not to worry. You'll only feel like you're being disemboweled by an ISIS torturer for maybe three days tops. After that, it's all roses and you can hobble out to dinner. Just don't cry at the dinner table. Oh come on, I'm just kidding. Or am I? Edit: ps tell the doc you want a copy of the video of the operation especially the part with the bone saw. Hey, didn't I see that in a horror movie?
This time tomorrow I'll be sporting some titanium in my left knee. Decided to get the right one done late September so I can drive after a couple weeks and have the summer to enjoy.
Just got home and surgery went well, I’ll be taking some pain meds for few days then physical therapy Next week. There were three hot nurses and one nice man assistant.
