<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (xi sickness xi @ May 24 2006, 07:16 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>What exactly are you talking about?I read alot of your posts and most of them dont make to much sense.Anyways I never said anywhere in that post that i didn't like centers, alls i said was the majority of basketball fans like flashy players.....I.e Kobe Bryant,Lebron James,Dwyane Wade.I'm a big fan of 3 point shooting basketball but im cool with good centers.Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett are nasty players, but most centers are boring to wacth and as BCB said.Theres no more good centers,The games running out of them, theres only Z,Ben,shaq and Yao.Thats all, anyways think before you put words in my mouth.I never said i didn't like centers or forwards.</div>I was talking in general, not about you.And that is rediculous saying that Z, Ben, Shaq and Yao are the only centers left.Brad Miller, Marcus Camby, Jamal Magloire, Mehmet Okur, Joel Pryzbilla, Chris Kaman, Amare Stoudemire. All solid centers in the NBA. I get what you mean though. Not as many great centers anymore.I like to watch post play just as much as high flying dunking. Im just saying, that only non knowledgable NBA fans dont appreicate big men.Look at me, my favourite player is Chris Bosh.

Ever position is important, it depends on the team and their style of game. Centers aren't useless.

Centers mean a lot in the game of basketball. Any teeam without a sucsessful center doesn't really get anywhere. Look at the Warriors. I thought they were making the playoffs, but we don't have a good center that it isn't rotting on the bench. The center needs to be a defensive anchor that can get boards, get some points and that can play at least 20 minutes. Centers are the most underrated and important position in the game.

^Look at the San Antonio Spurs. It might be an exception though because Tim Duncan basically plays like a center on offense and defense.

Duncan is more of a center but plays PF. Duncan has the speed of a power forward and the power of a center so he can play both positions. Dampier and Diop have been huge for Dallas but against certain teams they aren't as important. Specifically teams that run like the suns where shooting is more important and spacing the floor.

Are Centers becoming useless!?!?! Hell no!Are they becoming less popular??? Not really.I don't know anyone who likes to watch a game where it is all dominated in the paint and no perimeter scoring and dunks.Yeah, sure, I don't know anything about basketball, or I'm an immature fan, whatever. I don't want to watch the Heat give the ball into a 320 pound guy and let him just lean against another guy and then make a move on him while pushing about 200 pounds against him..that's not exciting. As far as I'm concerned, Shaq is only an above average athlete with a HUGE body. Yao Ming on the other hand I enjoy, he actually has skill...Amare Stoudemire is amazing to watch for his huge stuffs on both ends of the court. The center has always been important because they anchor a defense and plug up the middle. Really, what the Suns are doing is amazing, but again they do have S. Marion who is so strong his size is not as much of a factor. He can guard a 4 spot or a 5 spot if he keeps them out of the paint..

    1. Todays great PF's would have played center a long time ago. 2. So if todays great PF's played center 3. What would you do with all the 'bad' centers? 4. Would they be forced to play PF? 5. This is why 'all the good posts play PF now blah blah' is a dumb debate, it doesn't matter. Centers aren't useless at all, it's just that most great post players play PF.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (xi sickness xi @ May 24 2006, 06:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Kmart,Im just proving a point of the society today. The majority of NBA fans wanna see crazy dunks, and dont wanna see Tim duncan a boring basketball player.Yes Most centers in the NBA are bad but still they're not flashy and thats why no one really pays attention to them. The only center i really put attention on is Yao,hes so damn big lol.</div>I agree. I think NBA fans do only pay attention to the highlights and flashy points of the game, instead of the skill of bigger players. However, that's still not what this thread is about. [IMG] But don't get me wrong, I do agree with you about what NBA fans whould rather see
