Doesn't surprise me if true. They stress the 3 or layup philosophy while Aldridge shoots nothing but midrange Js.
It's true, and it's not even close. Aldridge has shot 407 times from 15'-19' and 114 times from 10'-14'. If you total up Houston's rosters' attempts from those distances you get 206 shots from 15'-19' and 173 attempts from 10'-14'. Not surprising when you consider their two offensive mainstays are Howard's shots from point blank range and Harden's long distance shooting. I'm not quite sure why this issue bugs some people so much. Aldridge is Portland's best player and the mid-range shot is his strength. He's gotten to the hoop (0-5') 265 times so far this year and has made 63.8% of his shots from that distance, but if you watch the Blazers at all you know most of those are put-backs and the occasional layup or alley-oop dunk. The odd thing about Aldridge's game is that other than those shots at the rim, his shooting percentage is highest at the 20-24' distance (44.6%), drops to 43% in the 15'-19' range, drops again to 41.8% at 10'-14', and is a dismal 31.6% at 5'-9'. Stotts has designed his offense to take advantage of Aldridge's strengths, and that's the mid-range jumper.
it is true http://grantland.com/features/portland-trail-blazers-success-damian-lillard-lamarcus-aldridge/
They're a bunch of Olive posters who are swamping this board with idiotic threads. "LMA Sucks" is about as stupid a thread as you could ask for on this board.
Most of the new members that have joined have been from the forum that the Blazers closed. There are a hardcore bunch of Oregonlive posters that will never come here.
Last season I calculated and posted that at that point, Lillard had taken more 3s than all other Blazers combined. As for all shots other than 3s, Aldridge had attempted more than all other Blazers combined. My post didn't raise a blip. Aldridge defenders were entrenched in battle position.
Yes. And so goes the fate of our team. I like Aldridge and all, I just REALLY dislike having our destiny tied to a (power)Forward who's 'go-to' move is a 40-43% jump shot.
This I totally agree with. Of course since it worked once with Dirk its okay for Portland to follow the same model.
Hey, it's 44.6% if he moves out to the 20'-24' range. His numbers only start to slip if he pays attention to his critics and starts moving in closer.
