As the famous Joseph Marcelli, who played Geoffrey on Fresh Prince so eloquently said in the 6th season of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air on the penultimate episode: "The word 'duh' comes to mind".
And Teague and Millsap are who the Hawks turn to when things go south. Didn't you see Teague put us away at the end of the game we played them this season? We tried to catch them but he scored at the rim two possessions in a row and we were done. Plus, they have Korver who may record a 50-50-90 season and All Star Al Horford.
I guess it depends on who you consider a superstar. Rasheed led many teams (including two Portland teams) to the conference finals and went to the Finals twice.
Okay first off, Teague or Millsap haven't proven shit yet in the playoffs, so I'll reserve judgment until I see what they do in the post season. Secondly, Duncan and Parker have "already proven" they can and will put up in crunch on the biggest of stages. I'm not saying Atlanta can't win it all, just saying that they don't have a traditional championship roster. I also said it has been done "Pistons" without a superstar, but that's the last that has. That was like, what, 10 or so years ago?
Sheed was never a superstar and I was a big Sheed fan. And as I already mentioned... The Pistons were the only team without a superstar to win it all. Atlanta is a damn good team and they have a shot, but it's unconventional. So my reservation is warranted based on history.
Finally, I'm all about the underdog! I would absolutely love it if Atlanta made it to the finals without the traditional superstar championship roster. So my reservation is not what I want to see. I'm just trying to be realistic here.
Furthermore, did you think we sucked last year until we won a round in the playoffs. No, you were talking WCF even though none of our players have been there. The Hawks are the clear favorite in the East. It's not close right now.
Now they are 1.5 games ahead of the Warriors for the best record in the NBA. They're on an 18 game win streak and way ahead in the game they're playimg now which means they'll likely be 40-8 by the end of the night. They have also won their last 12 games vs the West. It's definitely safe to say they are very real.
Hawks are 4-4 in February, with games against Dallas and at Miami remaining this month. Could it be that the Hawks could follow an undefeated month with a below .500 one?
