That's overall, but what about you? Im finding it hard to pointpoint on my end. but it seems I almost doubled a year and a half ago and now im back to where I was at in 2015. Id have to research my own statements more to fully understand which was better for me and where the breaking points were. I think its only fair to compare the two admins prior to Covid though. Regardless of thoughts of acting sooner, the global economy took a huge hit and we couldn't have stopped that no matter what we did.
Ah man dont be...one of the reasons things are sideways now is because of freedoms we have, and can be both a positive and detriment at any point in time. But the nice thing is we can change it as a people and look forward. People still want to come here to enjoy the freedoms we have and even take in the Blazers or Ducks. Quack!
And Hoover should have been judged excluding the depression, I expect some of you think. And maybe in some ways that would have been fair - Hoover wasn't entirely responsible for the depression by any stretch. But that aint the way people think. Happens on your watch and your response is shitty - you get blamed. barfo
I think you'll find that tourism from abroad is down about 98%, and I predict it will remain that way for some time. Right now we look to the rest of the world like idiots swimming in a sewage lagoon. barfo
No. My kind's rights are being curtailed by the current administration, and various states, emboldened by the president. I live in more actual, physical danger now than I did in May, 2016. My kind are now very loudly not welcome here, and that environment did not exist in 2015 when I came out. I'm very lucky to live in Portland, but even the suburbs feel less safe.
I don't know if embarrassed is the right word to use. I'm not sure what word to use though, because it's kind of related to pride. And while I had no say as to where I was born (thus I'm not "proud to be an American", it was the luck of the draw), I do think there's a sense of ignominy. I'm ashamed that the government is acting the way it does, it's unAmerican. What I've been told, by foreigners, they separate the Government from the people, much in the same way when we talk about North Korea or Russia, we're disparaging the Government and not the people from the country.
Please, this same BS happened when Bush was in office. People would say they sewed Canadian flags on their backpacks so they wouldn't get harassed, or so they said. Anytime people don't like the president, they get all prissy and shit and pull up this hacked up urban legend. Its passive aggressive whining. https://www.adventurouskate.com/for-the-love-of-god-dont-sew-a-canadian-flag-on-your-backpack/ https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/fake-canadians-canada-day-travel/index.html https://www.nomadicmatt.com/travel-blogs/of-americans-canadians-and-flags/ https://www.vagablogging.net/do-ame...-theyre-canadian-when-they-travel-abroad.html No different than the fucks that say they are leaving the country if "X" wins the presidency.
Maybe you're swimming in a sewage lagoon, but Im not. I don't let any President effect my Love for the country or how and where I swim. They are all Power Hungry anyway, swimming in that sewage lagoon your refer too.
I have a policy for Forum discussions: don't type anything you wouldn't feel comfortable saying to somebody's face. Imagine if you applied that policy, how much nicer this place would be.
1. I think belittling and insulting people's feelings and experiences isn't necessarily truth. 2. 'Twas a joke.
My civil rights have been under relentless attacks. The environment, that I have to live in because there is no other available planet, is under attack. The courts have been packed with young white male hard right judges, not a single moderate or mainline conservative (they sometimes vote against their ideology in favor of law); hard right ideologues all pledged to oppose civil rights and all pledged to be personally loyal to Trump. They will be on the bench for 40 or 50 years. My 401(k) is shaky. All my bills have gone up but income down. And 100,000 Americans dead and counting. I am not an island, thank you John Donne. Hunger is higher, poverty higher, inequality higher, and an administration totally committed to making it worse. I am much worse off.
