Simply....yes! The only asset it costs is green-backs, rather than players or picks!

He becomes (immediately) our second best player (behind Roy). He is a late-gamer who can take some of the pressure off Roy to be SUPER on every possession. I forsee a Rudy-Roy-Hedo-LA-GO lineup late in games - so the defense must ask....who do we guard????

It's an upgrade to our team. I hope it isn't the only one this summer.

I voted yes. Besides taking pressure off of Roy, he will be able to get the ball to Oden hopefully elevating his offense. Plus, he is an upgrade at a position that needed immediate upgrading. I think that with Turk, we do not really need to upgrade from Blake at this time. With four solid offensive threats (assuming Turk helps Odens offense), Blake does not hurt. Plus, Blake was efficient offensively. Blake would be the role player in the starting five, brings the ball up the court to conserve the energy of Roy/Turk. I think it can work well with Rudy getting most of the third guard minutes.

I get what people are saying about defense, but if we do the Blake/Outlaw for Hinrich deal, we help our perimeter defense tremendously. I'm much more concerned with a speedy point guard getting into the paint against us than a 2 or a 3 getting around Hedo.

I was on the fence. Then I studied further why Portland would be so interested in him. There were a lot of options available to the team I predict, yet they picked this. I think this in itself speaks volumes. For starters, I believe they're preferring to add a veteran with plenty of post season experience who can start for the next couple or three seasons until Batum becomes more complete. Then, that vet can be transitioned into a sixth-man role. Age, then, doesn't matter as much to me.

Turk isn't a fantastic defender, but he's clever and long enough to not be a liability either. In fact his defensive rating is surprisingly good. He's a reliable shooter, especially in pressure-packed moments. I think, most importantly, is what he can do for everyone else in the line up. Having another playmaker will take a lot of pressure off Brandon and take away a weakness for other teams to exploit in a Playoff series. If he can do for Greg what he did for Dwight, his acquisition is worth that alone!

As a SF his win% is 74% during the regular season and 54% during the playoffs. It's common for the win % to fall in the Playoffs. The only players playing SF in the Playoffs with a higher win % were Pierce (not available), James (not available), Anthony (not available), James Jones (not versatile enough), and Ariza. Now Trevor Ariza is someone I think would help Portland, but could get in the way of Batum's development, down the road. And, while he may be have a greater direct impact for the team, his overall impact I don't think would be greater than Turk's indirect impact, helping the team himself and others.

So, long story short. I'm onboard!

Do you want the team to get better? If yes, Hedo is much better than anyone we currently have playiung small forward.

Do you want Greg Oden to get better? If yes, Hedo will help Oden tremendously. He runs the pick-and-roll extremely well - far better than anyone on our roster. Greg Oden will become a much bigger offenseive threat with a 6'10" perimeter player who can actually get him the ball rolling to the basket. It's not just about his personal stats, it's the positive impact he has on his teammates that makes Hedo a good addition.

Is Hedo a superstar? No, he's not even an all-star. But, he's a great role player. Something this team needs.

Oden was not 100% the entire season, our starting pg was hurt for awhile, and our starting SF going into the season did not play at all.

I'm one of the few here who is in the no (pun). Of course it hasn't happened yet and though he'd obviously be an immediate upgrade at the 3, I just don't like the idea of a 5 year deal for a 30 year old SF who isn't much of a defender. My Blazer hoop fantasies have them making better use of the capspace... JChildress or a PG upgrade would be preferred.

I'm gonna vote yes, but I reserve the right to admit that I was an idiot if it works out badly.

    Don't we all.

I think there's a decent amount of risk with this move, but when you add players who are willing passers and who play intelligently I think that risk is mitigated somewhat. I just have this weird sense that it will work itself out.

We might as well trade Outlaw and Bayless to the Suns for Nash - with the idea of playing for the title this and next year.

    Bring along Batum and Mills.

So sign Turk for no more than 4 years. Then bring in Nash and let's get this done!

In two years, when Nash and Turk are fading - we'll have veterans in Roy, LMA and Oden (maybe Batum) to add new pieces to.

It is fluid. Go for the title NOW!
