Since Obama is still president he gets credit for this.

    Thanks Obama!

Reagan won the Cold War and made peace with the USSR. He negotiated the elimination of 10s of thousands of nukes on both sides.

Considering that solved the biggest issue facing the nation, according to President/candidate Jimmy Carter, it is hard to argue the arms were failed investments.

Bush reversed a lot of Reagan's policies and we ended up in a major war and recession.

Reagan took us to war in Grenada. LOL.

Clinton was clueless on foreign policy. He continued Bush's policies but failed to adapt to changing circumstances. He went to war in a dozen countries. Somalia, Haiti, Afghanistan, Sudan, Bosnia, etc.

Better question - being that Trump is ONLY Pres-elect, can he dictate where the money is invested due to the fact he's basically just a civilian business man at this point? And he was obviously involved in the brokering of the deal?

His VP was governor of Indiana. The two went and cut the deal between the state and Carrier.

He probably said something like, "If you don't take this deal, I will do everything in my power to see that Carrier gets no government contracts."

As incoming president, he can order the departments he controls to do what's allowed by laws already passed by congress. There are so many of those, Trump's employees can almost certainly find a way to make Carrier regret no deal.

He committed peacekeeping troops to Lebanon, but pulled them back after a tragic terrorist attack.

He intervened against pirates who took over the Aquila Laurie (sp?), and sent a cruis missile at Khadaffi's tent.

Not a warmonger by any stretch.

    Clinton saturation bombed Iraq.

Did I not say he continued Bush's policies? He had quite a bit of foreign policy experience as governor of Arkansas. LOL

When they came for the air conditioner companies, I said nothing, for I was not an air conditioner company.

Japanese banks are funding the new Trump Hotel in Taiwan that his people finalized the negotiations of moments before the president of Taiwan spoke with Trump.

He promised to do everything in his power to reduce regulations and lower taxes. SoftBank owns enough of T-Mobile and Sprint to control them both. They wanted to merge the two, but Obama used regulations to block it. Trump is less likely to stand in the way.

Of course, the $57B invested here should be a good deal for SoftBank on its own.

Your kind gave us bad jobs, stagnant wages, and exacerbated wealth inequality. Losing.

Time to try something new. Like winning.

You are such a good little Trumpette.

Yes, it's time to try something new. And we'll see how it goes. Maybe you and Mags are right and everything will come up roses. It'll be interesting to watch, in either case.

    http://www.cnbc.com/2016/12/06/spri...es-softbank-will-invest-50-billion-in-us.html

Sprint shares surged after majority owner SoftBank announced a deal to invest $50 billion in the U.S., aiming to create 50,000 jobs.

Donald Trump announced the deal after meeting with SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, a Japanese billionaire and technology investor, at Trump Tower in New York.

The stock climbed as much as 6 percent, quickly trading more than twice its 30-day average volume as more than 52.7 million shares changed hands. Sprint shares later pared those gains, ending the session about 1.5 percent higher on the day.

Shares of T-Mobile gained 2 percent in sympathy, also passing its 30-day average volume as more than 7.5 million shares changed hands in afternoon trade. The stock ended the session slightly below those levels, but was still gained about 1.8 percent.

    LOSING:

In August, Bloomberg reported that Son was still eyeing T-Mobile and would still like to merge it with Sprint. In 2014, the Japanese billionaire considered buying T-Mobile, but dropped the effort once U.S. officials signaled they would be against the potential merger.
