The contract I'd like to see for Ariza is a 3 year deal with 4th year player option and 5th year team option. Year 1 - $6.5M Year 2 - $7.5M Year 3 - $8.5M Year 4 - $9.5M (player option) If Ariza is performing at an All-Star level then he can renegotiate another contract during what should be his prime years at age 27.
The more I think about it, the more I believe Lamar is most crucial to this team. If Trevor accepts MLE level money, then all is fine. If not, he can walk, or would walk if I'm GM. Resign LO to a 7-8 million per year contract. Bye bye Trevor. Whoever overpays him will be in for quite the surprise when they find out he's not nearly as good without Kobe/Pau, and that he can barely even dribble the ball. Use the vet's minimum or LLE to bring in a small forward. Matt Barnes, Linas Kleiza, or Grant Hill, who I'm sure would love to come here. Use the MLE to bring in a point guard, like a Jason Kidd, or Mike Bibby. I'm actually warming up to that idea.
Odom is crucial to short term success, but I think Ariza is a player you want to keep for both short & long term. Lamar Odom's skillset is a lot tougher to replace.
Yeah I'm starting to warm up to that. If Trevor leaves because someone offered him an extra million per year, that would be foolish. He'll get even more media love, maybe some endorsements by staying here. Keep it at MLE Mitch, you hold the cards here.
I'm not really right now about tour FA's, I think they're gonna sign up again anyway, the only issue is how much their contract is gonna be. What I'm worried about though is if we are able to find any new players that can give this team an upgrade to battle the changes made by other contenders.
Yeah, it's cool. Most contracts are like that anyway, right? And by that time, maybe we won't have Ammo and Farmar's contracts.
I'm starting to think Barnes + Kidd > Ariza regardless of the contract. Whatever though. I trust Mitch.
Really? I thought he was decent. We could go after Grant Hill then. He had a great season last year. Plus I'm sure he'd be willing to take a cut to win a ring.
Ron Artest is cool. Good D and reckless offense. I'd rather have Ariza. He's younger and alot less likely to kill Kobe. lol
