Who’s better? Covington, Nance, or Ingles?

They're all very different players but I think they were all on the same level heading into the season. They were all guys expected to give meaningful rotation minutes on teams expected to make the playoffs. Ingles' game seems to have been in a steady decline though. Two years ago all three were starters and would have been in the rotation for just about any team in the league. When they played for their new teams RoCo for the Clippers and Nance for the Pelicans, they showed that they could still be that. At the same time Ingles just blew his ACL and the reason I thought that his performance has been suffering the last two seasons is that his already limited mobility had become even worse, which made him less of a defensive presence than he had once been and this year even seems to have effected his ability to get open and make his threes at the level he once did. I don't know if Ingles can ever play at the level he was playing at 2020-21, he might not even be able to play at the level he was playing at this season, which wasn't good. RoCo and Larry both showed that they are still relevant and capable of contributing to wins late in the season. RoCo showed that he wasn't giving us his best or wasn't suited for how we were playing as soon as he left and started playing a lot better. Larry was giving the Pelicans just about what he was giving us but was doing it off the bench which is probably where he should be.

RoCo and Larry will be rotation players next season on whatever teams they're on. Ingles was already trending in the wrong direction when he blew out his knee. If we re-sign him, I hope he's like the player that he was in 2019-20 and before so he can be an impact rotation player for us but that's not very logical.

Easy choice, Ingles! He’s on our team.

I'm really wondering how much of a chance there is that Ingles has an impact on next year's squad. ACL surgery was 2/23; ACL recovery timelines are supposed to be 6 months before returning to sports. It's possible he could be ready to play by opening night.

Where he's at physically by the draft (4 months post-surgery) will be a very interesting element of our offseason.

He’s a winner. IMO the Jazz win the series vs the Mavs with him out there.

on the other hand, Jamal Murray had surgery mid-April, last season, and reportedly wasn't close to coming back at the end of this season. A full calendar year

I'd assume there are different 'grades' of an ACL tear. I'm not sure if there are different grades of ACL surgery with a scale of recovery. Maybe? Murray is 25, Ingles is 34

I'd wonder if Portland has any intention of paying Ingles more than a minimum salary. They have Bird rights, so they could without dipping into the MLE

If we retain him and he's able to fully recover and be back to the level he was playing at in November/December, he'll be the best 3 we've had since Batum, and exactly the kind of vet Dame wants. I don't want to hold out too much hope, but I think it's something we all forget about when considering what this offseason may hold in terms of roster construction.

I've heard that Joe really wants to be here, which, admittingly was surprising.
FWIW, he is a coffee nut....Seriously, he is obsessed....Maybe he and Jimmy Buckets will do to coffee what CJ & Carmelo will do with wine.
Story: Many years ago I spent some time in Orem, Utah...Now, Utah, is not a hotbed for coffee...We were at the SLC Mall, and stopped at a Great Clips to ask if there was anywhere we could get a coffee or an espresso or something, and (hand to God) the girl looked at us and said "I don't know, I'm Lutheran.."...WTF????
    Utah...not big with coffee...
So, little wonder he'd wanna be here (?)..

I read that the Celtics made 10 2 pt shots in the entire game yesterday. Franchise low for 75 years, and the lowest number in the NBA in the last 15 years.
Crazy stat for a team that was on a role.

    c'mon man...knock off the hair-splitting nonsense

Steven Adams started 75 games; Jackson started 78. Adams wasn't the PF. Two seasons before that, Jackson started in every game he played while Valuciunas started in every game he played. Valuciunas wasn't the PF.

in the 'new' NBA a lot of teams spend a lot of the time without a 'real' C on the floor. When Robert Covington played for Houston, bbref said he spent 72% of his time playing C. That's because bbref simply defaulted to an obsolete template. RoCo was not and is not a C. Neither is Jackson

Jimmy Butler was "the most impactful player" in the first round and is an absolute superstar.

And I've seen him literally airball two fifteen-footers in the five minutes I've been watching.

Utah is Mormon central. Most Mormons don't drink coffee so i'm not surprised Utah isn't big on coffee.

Suns had no problems with Dallas and obviously the Heat walked easily past Philly. This playoff season isn't really as fun to watch.

I'm in Oakland this week. I have a friend here that I'm going to watch the Warriors tonight with. A good meal and good game would be fun to watch. Right now the Warriors vs Memphis seems like the only good series.
