Portland appears to have "won" the trade. I can't dispute that. Denver didn't have much choice though, to be honest.

The only thins Jokic does better than Nurkic is shoot and pass. Considering they play center, those are luxuries, not to mention the fact that Nurkic is an above average passer himself.

Jokic is like a 7 foot Boris Diaw and Nurkic is more of a traditional big man.

Huh? Y'all could have chosen not to trade... As well as NOT give up a pick for the guy who ain't re-signing... Plums is good as gone.

You realize DRtg is a shit stat for comparing individual defense across different teams, right? It's greatly impacted by the defensive play of your teammates. It's marginally useful for comparing the defense of two players on the same team, but not for comparing two players in different systems with different teammates. It's also about fit/role. POR was last, or near last in team defense for much of the year. 20 games of Nurk pulled us all the way up to 24th overall, for the season. His DRtg is impressive compared to the rest of the team.

In DEN, Jokic, Nurkic and Plumlee all had the same DRtg of 109, yet when we swapped Plumee for Nurkic, our team defense got WAY better.

So, I'd shy away from using DRtg to try to prove anything.

    You heard it here 1st:

Nurk will average more assists this season than Jokic.

Shoots better from 2-point range, shoots better from 3-point range, and shoots better from the free throw line (so technically, you are correct).

Also, he doesn't turn the ball over at the rate that Nurkic does.

When he is on the court , the hype is deserved. Can't ignore that he's missed 25% of games in his 4 years due to injury. Never played more than 65 games in a year.

Coughing up a first rounder seemed and still seems pretty inexcusable. I bet Olshey would have still pulled the trigger on a straight swap.

You may be right. Either way, Portland got the better return.

The fact that 23% of your offense will be Millsap time, while the Blazers will play inside out and high-low through Nurk.

Hark Noah and ZCO are going to feast off those Nurk high low passes

We have better scorers to pass to. Plain and simple.

Nothing???? We got Nurkic and combined the pick they gave us to move into the top 10 in a very deep draft.

The reason DEN was willing to include the pick is because they felt they already had too many young guys to develop.

So, now they signed a 32-year old Paul Millsap and have apparently gone from a young, developing team to one that is in win now mode in the deepest division in the league. I like Millsap a lot, I always have, and on the court, I think he will be a great fit in DEN, but at the end of the day, he doesn't make them a legitimate contender and will be old and long gone by the time they are - if ever.

I'll gladly take our 23-year old Nurk and 20-year old Collins over their 32-year old Millsap.

I think of him as like a poor man's Blake Griffin - in a bad way. That is, very athletic, surprisingly good passer, decent rebounder, pretty useless defender because of the stumpy arms, and (here's where he's not Griffin) a zero on offense. Pair him with a star PF and he's pretty good, but even then, modern centers need to be good defenders above all.

I have to say, I doubt that.

Nurk is great. But Jokic is phenomenal.

The whole trade was an Olshlapp! :smack:

Y'all gave away a promising young center still on his rookie deal and a 1st for a 30 game rental of..... Plumlee?

Denver had the best offense in the league once they committed to Jokic as a starter.

Better offense than Golden State, better than Houston, better than Cleveland...........

To go along with that, they just added Paul Millsap, who has been in 4 straight all-star games.

They're going to be lethal. Whether they'll play any defense or not is another story, but offense isn't a question.

I don't think Denver is done, I honestly think they are gonna go for broke and try to trade for Wade. Something Like Gary Harris+Faried.
