They didn't have to turn into Caleb or Zach. Stop using hindsight.

I think we are overrating our offer here. The three picks we had were 15, 20 and 26. It's not unthinkable that a team might prefer an established good guard and a lottery pick from last year (who had a fairly decent first season) to that. We could have offered them Harkless and it ends here when it comes to good players we could have added to the deal. Maybe Aminu or Davis too but not sure they'd have wanted them anyway. After that you are looking at Crabbe or Turner who don't have anywhere near the value of Oladipo IMO.

They were comparable offers. I'm not denying that Pritchard declined ours due to old grief, it's very likely, but it's not like those offers were worlds apart. If we had offered them CJ plus two picks, or something in that mould, then you could say they were, but Oladipo + Sabonis against Harkless (presumably) plus two or three picks is up there.

It's not even hindsight, season is 6 or 7 games long depending on which team we are talking about so it's hard to gather any worthwhile conclusions.

So you're saying we drafted poorly and we could've done better?

How you garnered that from my post makes no sense to me.

Common sense would say that since Indy would be using those picks instead of us, they would have drafted differently.

But I'll let you continue to post from your weird, alternate dimension.

Well considering they have Myles Turner who is pretty amazing and plays similar role to Collins, I doubt they would be considering Collins among their top picks for sure. They would have probably gone for Monk or Mitchell had they been able to select at 10. It was a blunder from Kings to not go for either of them too. Mitchell is pretty amazing BTW.

That's why I'm saying to @Rastapopoulos that saying the pacers would've used the picks the same way we did makes absolutely no sense.

Wow that's pretty tough. He's only been in the league for two years.

He would cost them just $6milllion next year, his value must be in massive negative for them to consider that move. They must think they would not even be able to dump him with a couple of second round picks attached.

Would be funny if Celtics picked him up now and Stevens turned him into a decent player. Not unthinkable either. I would say even likely.

I could see Okafor going home to Chicago.

It's too early to know about Fultz but as promising as their young team is, just think if they would have done a little better with the Noel, Okafor, Fultz tank jobs....even if they traded them for a star vet.

Mitchell+Fox would be an amazing backcourt.

In hindsight, maybe we shouldve drafted Mitchell then traded CJ for Butler

Let's see your draft as Pacers GM with our picks.

    I would've traded 15 and 20 for 10.

At the time, I would've taken Monk or Mitchell at 10
I would've taken John Collins at 18, they went with Leaf (I wasn't high on him, but there were really no better prospects there)
And I would've taken Jonah Bolden at 26.

Lets say they traded Young, and made all the same signings, they could've had:
    Collison / Joseph
    Mitchell or Monk / Joseph
    Harkless / Bogdanovic
    Leaf or J.Collins / Vonleh / Bolden
    Turner / Jefferson

That'd be a pretty good start to a rebuild and they would've been just as competitive.

I think last nights game shows how much we need another guard that can attack the basket. I really want us to trade for Bledsoe, and it's obvious we need someone like that.

Not as good as Oladipo and Sabonis. Easy choice.
