Boston showed yet again that basketball is a team game... Philly has the big name stars yet the Celtics dominated the series. That ass clown Neil Olshey rufuses to trade CJ even though him and Dame do not fit together... you can’t look at any CJ trade as who got the best individual player... it’s more about the sum of all parts... that egomaniac Neil needs to wake up and realize that 2 undersized ISO ball chuckers making half the salary cap is doomed to fail

I find it very telling that Brad Stevens didn't get ONE vote from his fellow coaches for coach of the year. Jealous much? Or maybe it's an NBA thing and they're mad because he came from College BBall? Because it's fucking obvious that he's the best coach in the league.

On another note, are Simmons, Mitchell and Tatum the best trio of rookies since LeBron, Carmelo and Wade?

Sixers could have Simmons and Tatum but selected the cheerleader Fultz

Stotts got more votes then Stevens, that’s how you know somethin’s fucky. I’m pretty sure coaches that come straight from college ball instead of through a coaching tree have it hard amongst other NBA coaches.

Fultz will turn out just fine. I got a feeling that in a years time we won’t be having this conversation about how they should have selected Tatum anymore.

I said after game one of the season that Tatum would be rookie of the year. Well he won't win it but he would be perfect in Portland.

I said before the draft that Tatum was the best player in it and I still stand by it. I also said after the draft that there was a real chance Donovan Mitchell could average 19-20ppg. I got some stuff right with that class.

My guess is that he's not a kissass at the coaches' meetings. Probably sits by himself, thinking up plays instead of socializing. Unpopular genius.

As someone who really doesn't like Olshey, you seem to be consistently pissed. Let it go for now... Take a deep breath for about a month and a half.

Yeah, I also am on record saying that Tatum will be the best player from that draft. Boston picking up an unprotected pick from the Kings and still getting Tatum is just fucking ridiculous. I also nailed most of that draft. I think with the Blazers having 3 1st round picks I did a lot more in depth research than I normally would. It will be fun discussing the draft with you and others on this site this year. The lottery is on Tuesday! I think teams will start making moves after that.

People keep saying that the Sixers could have had Tatum, but remember the CELTICS had the #1 pick and presumably only traded with the Sixers because they knew Tatum would be available at #3. If they thought the Sixers would take Tatum, they probably would've just taken him #1.

Sixers should've stayed put and taken Mitchell. Or so it looks now. Things could change in a couple of years - remember Damon Stoudamire, Tyreke Evans and Michael Carter-Williams all won ROY...

Yeah also that. Ainge felt Tatum was the best player in that draft and he would have probably selected him at no. 1 anyway. They were probably starting to prepare the Kyrie Irving trade package around that time so going for Fultz wouldn’t have been good.

Of course nobody was taking Mitchell at no. 3. The highest anyone would have maybe got him would be about 8 and the Knicks. Nobody last year thought he was a better bet than Fultz, Tatum, Ball, Fox, Jackson, Isaac or Markkanen.

So you're saying that Fultz would have fallen to the Sixers had they remained at 3? That seems dubious to me.

Maybe Lakers would have taken him if they had the chance instead of Ball. I don’t know. I don’t think Ainge wanted him.

Zero chance of that, IMO. Magic was all about Lonzo weeks before the draft.

What I don’t know is why Colangelo moved up to get the number one pick, offering a big package to get it done. If they knew they were going to use Simmons as their playmaker and play him in the backcourt, their was no need to rush to make that move because getting an efficient shooter at the wing (Tatum) would have been as good as getting one in the backcourt (Fultz was perceived as one).

Well the I think Fultz would have been third to Sixers anyway. I think Ainge is not scared of bold moves and he would have taken a perceive number three at number one pick.

To me, that's just further proof that Philly's success this year is largely blind luck, not planning. (See: Noel/Okafor.) They didn't bring Simmons in to be a PG, as far as I know. It just sort of worked out that way.
