I can't believe the league is making it less likely for the refs to get shit right. The way the league treats refs like they're infallible is fucking ridiculous. I think teams should get unlimited challenges if the challenge overturns the call and should be able to spend as many timeouts on challenges as they want... maybe even add another TO so there are more opportunities to get crucial calls correct.

So in my ideal challenge rule if your challenge is successful it costs you nothing and you get to keep challenging. I your challenge is unsuccessful it costs you a timeout but you can challenge again until you're out of timeouts and maybe we start giving teams 8 total TOs. That or unlimited challenges where a successful challenge costs nothing (fucking obviously) and a failed challenge results in a two shot tech. Something has to be done so these games are officiated correctly.

A better way to do it is to try something like:

total_players = sum(player_3PPct * player_3PA)
total_attempts = sum(player_3PA)
team_3PPCT = total_players / total_attempts

Well, you have the career 3P% of each player and the career 3PA of each player. I gave you the formula, this will be a pretty decent estimate assuming the teams will continue to function more or less the same for the players as far as attempts and percents are required.

Fire up google sheets, put all these values and have some fun.

3P% for a player mean nothing if he takes 0.2 shots per game but mean a lot if he takes 7 attempts per game...

I'm fine with them having no penalty for a succesful challenge, so a team retains its challenge.

But I'd like to see less timeouts. 5 timeouts a game is plenty. These games are 2.5-3 hours... would be great if they got closer to 2 hours.

The clear path reviews are horrible too. Just change it so if a player makes a non basketball play to stop a fast break its 2 and the ball, referee discretion no review. Maybe a few of those are wrong but I'd rather have a few errors along with better flow in the game.
