Seems like you would want a way to project this for expected minutes in the upcoming season... yes not easy to do, but Melo or Ariza aren't going to play the minutes as Rus.

You might be able to just look at 3pt attempts per game.... often that is a good single metric, and better than any adjustments for percentages. Although Russ is the one guy that would probably skew such an analysis.

    Speaking of shorter games....

I personally hate it when the last 2 minutes of a game turn into a 20 minute FT contest. Simple solution: any defensive foul in the last 2 minutes results in a FT AND a new possesion for the offensive team. In other words, you can no longer trade fouls for possesion. In other words, if you need the ball, play good defense and hit the boards! You know - play sound, fundamental basketball.

I'm good with less timeouts and the euro rule but if it is less timeouts then go to the challenge rule where if your challenge results in an overturned call then you're fine and if the call stands it's two technical free throws for the other team and limitless challenges.

That's because Spolstra is still coaching, so he could not spare the time.

It makes it easier for the league to fix games.

That shit is played out nonsense. If the league was fixing games that story would have been busted wide open by now. Do you have any idea how many reporters would love to make their career on that story? The risk/reward makes no sense for the league... none.

Not to mention that in the last twenty years, Phoenix, Milwaukee, Cleveland 5 times, San Antonio 5 times, OKC and Orlando so 14 of the 40 finals teams have been small market and then you get Miami 5 times, Dallas 2 times, Detroit 2 times and Toronto from medium markets. That's 24 of the 40 teams that have made the finals in the last 20 seasons being outside of large markets... more than half. Also the biggest market in the Western hemisphere, NYC hasn't gotten to one finals appearance in two decades.

So the NBA takes on all of the risk of ruined league credibility, criminal charges, all of the small market teams suing, etc. for rewards they are failing to attain? Really? That's what you want to go with? OK.

That wasn't the league fixing shit and it got busted wide open by the FBI and reporters... two words. Try Again.

Edit: Also the league was investigated and scrutinized at that point by the FBI and Congress who could find no evidence of league corruption.

Yeah that sucked for us and superstars do get called differently than regular all stars and regular all stars get different calls than the average player. That's called bias not conspiracy. Seriously try addressing the fact that more than half of the teams in the finals over the past 20 years have been from small and medium sized markets. The reason you haven't addressed that is because it doesn't fit your bullshit narrative and pretty much obliterates it.

Especially any game involving Basston. They've got to be the most fouling, many of those fouls ridiculous, team in the NBA. I dread when they are on Nat'l TV before the Blazers matchup. One year, their game went into triple overtime, and the Blazers game was joined , in progress, mid way through the 2nd Qtr. And because it was a TNT game, no local coverage was allowed. Has happened multiple times before a Blazers TNT game.

Dame is definitely guilty of that last example.

Hopefully, this all happens, but I'm skeptical.

I wish they would have included an example of a defender barely touching a breakaway dunker - it's definitely Marginal Contact, and shouldn't be a foul.

Dame usually just uses an unnatural stop and pull up to get contact on his hip from a defender riding him around a screen which has been pointed out, will still get called a foul. Dame will still be getting his four point plays and three free throws a couple times a game. I think hooking someone with your off arm and flailing is a tactic used more by Harden when driving than the off arm is used by anyone else in the league.

All of that said, these guys are all really crafty and they will adjust to what they have to and still get to the line and still either get a foul call or separation for their shot.
