If they don't trade him he'll lose $40m if he signs with the Knicks. He's trying to force the Hornets to deal him for the scraps that NY could only offer.
not neccesarily. he might sign with GS or LAC. But he won't siggn an extension with any team. Not NY, not Lakers.
No more Kevin Durant or Russell Westbrook moves allowed. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7329584/nba-alters-emphasis-shooting-fouls-2011-12 And more rule changes mentioned. I like them all. Just wish they'd actually enforce them even after January.
Then don't trade him. If he wants to lose 40 million to go where he wants then I can respect that. Why should he have to sign an extension to the city of New Orlean's choice? I don't like the guy and I am glad we did not trade for him , but if he plays hard this year and then actually goes to NY for less money, then I will at least have a little respect for him.
RicBucher Ric Bucher Since someone else also asked: I'd put $ on CP3 being in California on Christmas. I like to have the odds stacked in my favor when I bet.
Come on Warriors! That would make my month -- Laker and Knick fans freaking out over CP3 heading to Golden State.
Or not... warriorsworld warriorsworld per @Chris_Broussard the warriors have dropped out of the cp3 race
Ha! Lakers have the 32 year-old Gasol as their centerpiece for CP3. For a rebuilding team you don't trade for someone on the tail end of his prime.
It sounds like the Lakers might end up offering the most, since suddenly the Warriors and Clippers won't part with Curry or (and this is mystifying to me) Eric Gordon. Will somebody explain to me why a lockout that was supposed to help small market teams keep its good players has resulted in it being massively unprofitable for a player to sign an extension?
the mechanism for them to make the most money is to play out their contract and have their current team pay them the most. If you want to tack years onto the end of your contract, you're going to take a hit if you're trying to do it for another team. I'd have to recheck, but I don't think it's a problem if CP3 wants to extend with NOH. This could be referred to as the "you can't have your cake and eat it, too" rule. If you want big $, you have to take a hit in flexibility of where to go. If you want to be a truly "free" agent, there's a price for that. If CP3 and the others give up 8 figures to go play where they want to play, that's their right.
maybe, if Chucko is getting that type of high offer then there is going to be a lot of bad contracts given out (see Travis Outlaw), maybe better just to sight a low MLE guy and then see how things shake out and maybe do a trade ot two before the deadline.
Lookin' like Chuck Hayes will be a King. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7...to-kings-offer-chuck-hayes-four-year-20m-deal
KBergCBS This new CBA is amazing. It hasn't even been ratified yet and it's completely restored competitive balance to the universe! KBergCBS "All 25 teams, if well managed, will have the opportunity to watch five teams take turns winning championships." Hahaha. So true
