<div class="quote_poster">Quoting SupraJames:</div><div class="quote_post">... How does this situation remotely resemble a school bully beating up kids who fail to do his hw for him???? What the hell? Your analogy is not only horrible, it just doesn't make any sense here. Try again.</div>

Artest is a beast of a man compared to the guys in the crowd he went after, he knows he would destroy all the guys he went after. It's just like a school bully going after weak kids who can't put up a fight. What beating those fans down make him feel better about himself?

It makes plenty of sense but to guys who thinks Artest is the wrong, well maybe not....

[IMG] @ you using the "try again" line. When you havn't used any points that have made sense yet.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Jurassic:</div><div class="quote_post">Yeah, I'm going to sit here and believe that the timing of the sig change is just extremely ironic. [IMG]

Either way, we have our opinions. You may think mine are odd, but at least they are logical and not hypocritical. If you think that having an Artest quote isn't supporting him then.....well, haha whatever. Anyway Allnet, let's agree to disagree and not make this personal like so many people in this thread are doing.</div>

You have no clue what I was planning to do so you have no right to assume. You think just because what Ben did I'm suddenly going to stop supporting him? that seems to be your theory. Which is completely off. I won't get personal with you because simply there is no need to.

But since when I have in my sig is so important and the fact you think an Artest quote means I support him. I will remove It just so you can go about your dailly life in peace that AllNet has removed on Artest from every post he makes [IMG]

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Jurassic:</div><div class="quote_post">You are naive and ignorant. He had a point, it actually has quite a bit to do with race and if you took your shades off you'd realize that the whole thing might not have happened if it wasn't for some of the things that fans were (allegedly) yelling.

It never ceases to amaze me how certain people think that race plays no role in anything [IMG] .

I was watching a replay of the fight in the lobby of my dorms, and everyone was acting all crazy simply because they players were black. Trying to talk in ebonics saying crap like "Oh snap son! Homey got punked, Thug life!!!!" For you to automatically assume that there is no validity to the racial issues shows that you are oblivious to world issues.</div>

Naive and ignorant? Don't be irrational. This had absolutely nothing to do with race and it is ridiculous to think otherwise. You claim this never would have happened if it wasn't for some of the things the fans were yelling? Obviously you weren't paying attention, because the situation was fine and no more than a scuffle between the players until that one fan threw a bottle at Artest which ignited the full scale riot, period.

The point durvasa was making was that people wouldn't be calling any of the players thugs if they weren't black, which is not true at all. This isn't a racial issue at all and for you to think otherwise is nothing short of absurd.

If I knew any better I would guess you have been looking inside AllNet's basketball handbook.

The point that I am making is that it is wrong for you to make the assumptions that you are making. I don't recall anyone thinking that Brad Miller was a thug when he punched Shaq.

Was Zimmerman a thug when he went after Pedro.

I agree that race should probably be kept out of the thread. But once brought up, to imply that someone is completely off their rocker is rude. To make is seem as if durvasa is just an ignorant minority "playing the race card" is rude as well. Not everyone sits around "playing the race card" to simply gain benefit. There is often validity. That's all I'm saying. Fell free to not understand because you can't relate.

Oh but what do I know. I'm acting irrationally and "playing the race card".

weak kids in school that cant put up a fight dont go throwing stuff ad provoking the bully. they were the bullies, probably because they thought they had the advantage in number aka mob mentality. they were practically rioting against artest and he's the bully beating up 5 or more weak guys? hell no

I did It so you wouldn't harp on about It, really you even bringing It up was pointless. You obviously did It to get a reaction.

Of course you can't recall anyone calling Miller a thug for punching Shaq. But it wasn't because he's white. It's because he didn't. It was the other way around.

Not that Accord needs a defense attorney or anything, but he didn't say or imply nothing about ignorant minorities. He just said that the race card is overplayed, which is true, and in this particular case to bring it up is ridiculous. All you do is take away "validity" from other instances when it may play a role (the Owens skit on MNF for example). And by the way, the "you can't relate" argument is just as tired.

if u have looked at any academic research about sports u know that race penetrates most realms of it, to not acknowledge that would be absurd. just look at the terrel owens/nicollete sheridan incident as a point of reference . would it be a national story if sheridan was in the arms of a white quarterback? No, cause thats the culturally ascribed right of the starting QB to walk away with the pretty blonde. similarly, the analysis of the melee, like it or not will be coloured, obscured by racially motivated predispositions. look at the SI website, they are calling for the ban of ron artest from the NBA. there have been fights at the VIBE awards over the years, including this week and there was no public outcry over that. possibly because all the parties involved, including the victims are black. to not omit race from the discourse is to silence the debate.

Dude, I brought it up to prove a point. That's all. Look at it from someone's perspective other than your biased one.

    1. Ron Artest gets in an icciddent that starts with getting shoved by Ben Wallace.

    2. A poster says that he has lost all respect for Artest.

    3. That same poster removes a Ben Wallace sig, but retains a Ron Artest quote.

Questionable sanity. Or possibly just unintentionally hypocritical. Either way, it amuses me. There is a reason why I don't list my favorite players or teams. Because people often make silly assumptions (which you feel that I am doing now, I kinda see where you are coming from). Regardless, I'd like to see a thread on jbb without all this side-tracking crap.

I won't post anymore about the sig issue if you wont.

Fine, forget the sig and what was on It and move on with the topic. Even though there's nothing more to disuss. This forum could get out of control soon. The sooner this situation is cleared up, the better.

No actually, I don't know what the hell you meant. Seems to me you went searching for one white guy who punched a black guy and wasn't called a thug. It didn't matter if it wasn't true. Who has the blinders on?

This is a PUBLIC forum, dude, that means whatever you say is fair game for ANYONE to comment on it. You can't go around implying people are racist or racially insensitive and not expect to be called on it.
